'They are renewing calls for anyone who has information relevant to the investigation - whether it be a person or vehicle seen in the area that day, or something unusual such as a damaged vehicle or property - to come forward to police'.
I've read some good stuff on here, and some pretty far fetched conjecture which I want to contribute to.

What's the 'chances' that it was a hit and run, premeditated, and damage to the car, could be covered up...by a 'smash-repair' business. ;)

And painted the car a different colour 🤔

He should have said "shouldn't". And added a comma :)

Yep, stolen cars often smashed up in the bush. Offenders take for a joy ride with their mates in a car behind, them dump/wreck the stolen one.

We were camping on the Murray one time and heard a car screaming through the bush. I commented to a mate that he needs to learn to change gear. They reoared past our camp and waved to us giving the thumbs up.

When we were leaving we saw the car smashed up in the bush on our way out, obviously stolen,
You have to wonder at the mentality of stealing a car to smash it up or burn it. Why? The need... for speed...?

It might be a combination of a release through surging testosterone, frustrations and in with the wrong crowd. They need to be burning through it participating in a sport.

That's my theory anyway.

Adrenaline. Like taking drugs or jumping out of planes.

Was only listening to the casefile podcast yesterday and you are quite correct. My mouth dropped open when I heard it.

There was a change in that after the Idaho murders when Kohberger was on the loose, the police said to be aware of surroundings, walk in pairs, take usual safety seriously etc.

I think there's probably been heat seeking camera drones going flat out over forest areas in Ballarat since Samantha went missing and that any bush dwelling society drop outs, as it's suspected the man was that attacked Sissy, might have been found by now. Or I'd hope that's what they've done.

I think they know who did it and they just need some more evidence to stick him/them.
I guess we'll find out soon enough. If they do know who it is, I can't imagine it will be too long before an arrest is made. Or at the very least it will be the media getting a sniff of a prime suspect being brought in for questioning.

Herald Sun front page is saying the cops are looking for more than one person. They might have another couple of phones in close proximity to Samantha's around the same time.

They could be able to see this if one or more was open to wifi?

Joggers do get hit by cars and it may be more likely to happen on an uneven track but people mostly stop and help, they call 000. The only reasons I can think someone might have hit her, moved the body and run, would be if they were engaging in criminal activity at the time.

Even if there was two and one was unlicensed, the other probably was licensed so I'm not sure it's as simple as that. I'd be thinking car thieves would have packed up and got home before they need to drive their stolen vehicle out of the forest in daylight, so it's less likely to be that I think.

I was having a street view look at some of the roads. It's not out of the question that she was somewhere like Recreation Road and someone has hit her with sun in their eyes. It looks like a pretty isolated area. Locals might have a better take on this but more than once have I nearly hit a kangaroo or emu on a remote road due to sun.

Yep, I had to pull over just off Port Headland near dusk for the same reason last I was there, it was impossible to see at all, I was blind.

People can panic under stress.

Panic and drive away. Not stop, get someone to help pick up and dispose of the body. I don't think this was an accident.
I'm not going to assume to know what anyone else would do in any situation.

They may have called someone to help.

They may have had someone in the car with them.

Whether it was an accident or not, it still would have been a stressful situation & people don't necessarily act logically. We've seen that with the double murder in Sydney.

Unless he's Humpty Dumpy:

“When I use a word,’ Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, ‘it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less

Should implies an obligation, one step below must .

He chose the word and in a text based forum the reader can only go on the words the writer uses.

Add a comma, and the context makes sense:

The police are obviously not telling us everything, as they should.

I reckon you’ve gone way off the deep end here about someone who hasn’t quite got the precise format of their wording correct but who’s broader posting suggests your interpretation isn’t accurate.
