I wonder if they'll name Ablett or Swan on the half forward line. Feels like there's been a dearth of really outstanding players in the small forward roles this year.

Maybe, but they have to fit in Swan and Murphy, who definitely deserved selection on the field, but will have to settle for the bench now. Thomas is the surprise for me.

Awesome! Kelly made the bench. Feels almost like a career achievement award for years of under-the-radar excellence. Awesome player.

Stevie J is dreadfully unlucky, but the biggest selection ****-up is Murphy ahead of Birchall/Scotland. Truly, truly bizarre. Hawks and Blue fans have every right to be pissed off with that.

Worth noting that Kelly's selection means our entire "golden era" (07-09) midfield has now made All-Australian at one stage or another.

I think sometimes we took (and possibly still take) for granted the fact that most weeks we were able to line up with Ablett, Bartel, Corey, Ling, Selwood and Kelly all in the same team. And that's without even mentioning Chapman or Johnson, another pair of All-Australians, who we had the liberty of rotating through the middle as well.

Why should Geelong supporters care about the fortunes of an opposition player?

It's not that hard to look good when you're surrounded by young inexperienced youth. If he didn't stand up and take the midfield duties by the scruff of the neck who the hell would have?
