It is largly because of the people that were around him, Buckley, Burns etc, and his sometimes terrible (or apparent terrible) kicking efficiency.

In that case, why were his 2006-2008 seasons his best post-2001, and his 2002-2004 average at a time when Bucks and Burns were at their best/playing mostly onball?

I said thats why he is underated. Because of the other players in the team with a bigger profile he isn't noticed as much. I added in his apparent terrible kicking efficiency because that is something he is known for around the league.

Is very underratedand a brilliant servant to the club!
Will be surprised if he makes it to 300 games, but if he does good on him.
Either way he has still been a solid contributor to the greatest team in the world.

GO PIESSSS!!!!!!

Nobody on this board has defended this bloke more than myself - I just love his willingness to do the tough, inside stuff. However, I do think that 300 is unlikely - mainly because of injuries. e.g. Buckley was incredibly resilient up until about 30 and injuries then caught up with him. The same with Burns to some extent - and plenty more at other clubs.

Couldn't see him getting past 300 games, but I think he'll easily make it to 250, which is a phenomenal effort in itself. Despite the fact that he's getting on in the years he is still a great extractor of the ball who gives his all every match, and led the club for clearances and tackles in 08. Him receiving a heavy knock in the West Coast match (if I remember correctly) and being taken from the ground was just typical of the way he puts his body on the line in every match. I think we've all had a go at him in the past in regards to his somewhat errant disposal, but he easily makes up for it with his attack on the ball and physical presence in the centre.

Could barely kick with his left foot towards the end of last season, wont make 300

I still maintain that we will never win a flag with him in our side.Always goes missing in the big games when we desperatly need a clearance of which apparently he is the clearance king.....

His days are numbered with Sidebottom,Beams coming in etc

His feeble effort against Carlton was disgraceful when the game was there to be won,he has no physical presence whatsoever. As usual goes missing when we need him the most

So that's why he was so bad in the 2007 and 2008 finals series.

he contributed but he definatly wasnt outstanding.he gave away 4 free kicks in the St kilda final and didnt even make a tackle FFS....

how people can keep sticking up for him is beyond me.he hasnt improved his skills one bit in 10 years,he is and will always be, a average player

We need average players...that's how you can spot the "stars".
Cheesey has done his bit for all of those 10 years.
