The Carlton Football Club is pleased to advise that Josh Fenaroli has been signed to a 2-year contract under the new AFL (NSW/ACT) Scholarship Program.
Fenaroli, a 16 year-old from the Pennant Hills Football Club in Sydney is 180cm, 75kg.
The newly introduced NSW AFL Scholarship Scheme allows each AFL club to sign a maximum of two players per year.
To be eligible, players must be aged 15 to 17 years and have lived in the eligible New South Wales regions (determined to be development AFL markets) for at least three years.
Scholarship players - who are free to sign with the club of their choice - receive a minimum scholarship of $10,000 per year (fully funded by the AFL) and can be upgraded to their aligned club’s Primary or Rookie List once they attain draft age.
“Josh is a hard working midfielder, who recently impressed at the inaugural NSW/ACT Talent Camp at St Ignatius. Josh has been selected in the squad to represent NSW at the National Under 16 Championships to be played on the Gold Coast later this year.” said Wayne Hughes, Carlton’s National Recruiting Manager.
As part of the scholarship, Josh will visit Carlton on several occasions for training and development. The scholarship program will enable Carlton to have preference over other clubs during the draft period in which Josh reaches an eligible age.
