In what ways? AFL football is a business. Clubs will cut you at the first opportunity if you are not performing. Why should a player be ridiculed for seeking greater opportunities, whether it be monetary or other?

I don't see how this is any different to the business sector.

In the way that the money in football is due to fans that are emotional, passionate and hand cash over to see their team. It's the massive audience that provides the money in football. Scully has provided a lot of excitement to Melbourne fans. A lot of memberships have been bought on the hope and dreams of a new era of success, something he is supposed to be part of.

It's different to commericial business. Say you work for Telstra, Optus offer you a job for twice the cash. Is it really going to affect the customers? Will it alter their experience of what's provided to them? Will customers think "oh shit! Telstra was going to become company of the year, now what am I gonna do! Optus is going to really challenge us this year."

Footy fans are different to customers because they can't change to another team. That's the culture of the sport. Because of this fact the players really are letting down the portion of people that pay the big bucks to go and see them. Surely you understand that this is different to business?

Has there ever been a player leave a club after two years to goto another? Granted there has never been a GWS or GC but still Scully would always be tainted by this if he moves.

Fair enough. I can see where you are coming from. :thumbsu:

Question for you. What are your thoughts on all the football supporters (not West Coast) that still bag Chris Judd endlessly, for "chaising money"?

Good question.

I dunno really.

Given he was their Captain and appeared to be jumping from a sinking ship, I think I'd be pretty pissed I guess if I was an Eagles fan. Much like North supporters felt pissed at Carey for ****ing the club up whilst still Captain, it will take a fair bit of time for those wounds to heal. Hardly comparable, but you get where I'm coming from.

As for others who bag Judd, well I reckon they just trollin & don't really care.

Big picture perspective though, I think for himself, Judd probably made the right move.

they are generally the collingwood/hawks supporters who are pissed off that judd turned them down to a club which was significantly worse then them at the time in the hawks

nothing wrong with judd's move, it is fair to say that he had repayed the club for a no.3 draft selection, premiership captain, norm smith, brownlow, multiple AA... the club obviously had a troubled culture at the time and he wanted a move to victoria...

it's not like judd said i want to move to go home, then brisbane or something offered him mega bucks and he moved there

absolutely zero wrong with the way judd went about his move IMO

This part, yes, but at the end of the day I don't think it is right to ridicule and condemn somebody for looking after their own interests. Most people would do the same. This is the point I am making.

Melbourne are cheats.
No, Collingwood are cheats.
Oh, North should try cheating to survive.

Look, it's business. If you aren't taking advantage of the system, then that's bad business. Loyalty, Ethics, Morals, Culture...all out the door if you wanna be successful in this game. Use the system, build your team back up. We did it, Richmond are unlucky that they don't get the opportunity to do it with new clubs coming in. North probably wouldn't do it because of the Shinboner Spirit(which actually brought them no success, North won as Kangaroos in 75 after the Shinboners was long gone, but yeah, stick to that), and Collingwood got a flag from it. And Dean Bailey risked his career as a coach to do it, so he must think it was the right thing for the club. He wouldn't get a job elsewhere with the winning record he has because of it. Scully will probably ignore the money from GWS and stick with the Dees. His management will tell him he would have a reputation he couldn't resurrect if he were to leave before achieving something at Melbourne. I've thought about this issue, and it is a non-issue. He is upping his next Dees contract. Cheers. Peace.

btw, Carlton are cheats.

Not sure if I would be posting vids of that game. Not really anything to brag about. Quite the opposite in fact.

You might have missed the very thinly veiled sarcasm in posting that vid mate.. Though you may well be right 'SirJimi'. I would have to say though, it will be the ultimate irony in my opinion if The dees do lose Scully

Buckley's career sure was tainted wasn't it?

I did say Non West Coast supporters.

This is exactly how I feel.

losing trengove would be the ultimate irony

I understood the sarcasm, mate, but it came at the expense of rehashing what was a pretty forgettable moment for the Tigies.

May not have been tainted but do you think he enjoyed losing 2 straight grand finals to the team he left after his first year because he wanted success? Something similar could happen to Scully.

You may want to leave the country prior to free agency coming to the AFL....I fear your delicate heart may not be able to cope.

Who knows what would have happened had he stayed? I can say with 100% certainty that they wouldn't have been able to retain all their stars had Buckley stayed. What if they lost Akermanis and Black to cater for Buckley's huge wage. Maybe the Pies would have won. What then?

I'll be looking for you mid-year when Tom signs his 4 year deal at MFC.

You couldn't pay me enough money to go and live in Western Sydney and play for a McDonald's franchise team like yours that will never, ever have success.

I reckon Scully is overrated. While he'll be a solid AFL player with pace, I've seen no evidence that he can hit a consistent target which only ends up hurting the side.

He got 39 touches against the Dogs last year but at least 20 of them were clangers.

Fast forward to last week's intra club game and he still couldn't hit a target.

Trengove, Watts and Grimes will all be better than Scully.

Taking Buckley out of the Pies would damage them alot more than Akermanis or Black out of the team. Especially considering Buckley would go into the opposition whereas Black/Akermanis would have ended up somewhere else.
