Apparently Chris Moreland is going to be playing at BPH this year after all.
His 'signing' at Leopold was just a way to bump up his price and rape more money out of his beloved club.
Everyone knew he couldn't handle the GFL anyway he quit newtown after about 4 games remember.

Was he ever officially given a clearance to Leopold? Or is he still technically a Bell Post Hill Panther?

Clearance's havent opened yet. It dosent surprise me about moreland, He is a big fish in a little pond. He will be a gdfl superstar but wont have crack at a higher level (its the same with cricket)

Funny, there are a few like that. We just finished discussing Rick O'Toole didn't we? Add Closter, Peel, Fastuca(in his day), Calbert, McLeod J, Furtilla. The list goes on. Youngish blokes who lack ambition!

how does peel lack ambition? he is playing for north ballarat this year, get ya facts right b4 u get on here and smack people around

R any other inverleigh young lads having a crack at a higher level? I did hear at the end of last year hybens was going back to bell park and hickelton was going to newtown (but that could have changed with smith taking over as coach). The hardest job for inver would be holding onto the kids with the gfl clubs knocking on the door

i dont know wot either are doing but honestly who cares about gfl at the end of the day its not AFL its just a country footy league i dont know y people talk it up so much, if someone wants to stay in the gdfl with there mates and have fun i dunno y they get talked down for doing so. there is more to life than football and the gfl

My quote is justified according to the "Big Fish" theory. Moreland, I believe has been involved at both VFL and GFL level, yet he is still labelled. Peel on the other hand has come from the TAC and laboured around the GDFL for the last 4 years. Unless you are and exceptional talent, VFL clubs move you on at 23/24 years of age. An age he is nearing.
Don't get me wrong, I think the kid can play, but will he stick it out?

ha ha ha ha, you have just really embarrassed yourself here. Peel is 18 and has only played 2 seasons of senior gdfl, one in 2009 while on the falcons list and the other last year, 2010 was spent in playing falcons. get ya facts right you fool

My apologies to you Peely, it certainly feels as though you have been around a lot longer.

blokes cant win - they leave a club they get pasted as golddiggers, they stay at clubs the get called big fish.

what is it?

moreland couldnt accept leaving the chance at three flags in a row, and decided to stay. big deal.

BPH kept every premiership player from 2011. if we win another flag, it is testament to the total trust Grg has in his men- if we lose it, then thats life, and its on 22 blokes for the amount of hard work they didnt do.

either way, gonna be a cracker year in the GDFL.

Bizza I agree with you what is wrong with a bloke staying at a club forever. Yes, if good enough he should have an absolute crack at making it to the big show but if after trying he cant then what does it matter if he comes back to his original club as it is only country footy at the end of the day. The guys that annoy me are the ones that shop themselves to clubs in the same league.

In regard to keeping the premiership team together that is a very good effort. Out of interest how many of that crop played in the flags of 2010 and 11?

I dont have a problem with blokes staying at the 1 club. i belive moreland could play vfl. I rate him very high but if he just wants to play at bph dont train at geelong or go to newtown and leopold. i think he likes to dominate in a average comp then be a average player in a good comp (big fish). Its the same with cricket he is good player but he heads down to meredith to play div3. why? to dominate

HaHaHaHaHaHa. This is quite comical!! Chris moreland is playing for the same amount he played for last year!! and told the club thats all he wanted!! he wouldnt even be in the top 20 paid players in the comp yet he quite possibly is in the top 3 players! the reason he came back was he missed his mates that he has formed such a strong bond with from working so hard together to get the holy grail!!

I just looked this up out of interest on the Internet. It looks as though according to the site that 17 blokes played in both flags. The difference was
Out: Barton, Cavka, Jenkins, Pyle, Venner
In: Addie, Miller, Popovski, Riches, Tarr

Not a bad effort. I couldn't find the team that played for East in the 2009 flag to compare it to the 2011 runners-up side but I would assume there would be a much bigger turnover. Although that is one extra season as well.

barton jenkins were still at the club in 2011, missed due to injury
tarr asst coach in both flags

so we really lost cavka pyle and venner, and gained addie, miller, popovski and riches.

Moreland is an ok player but I wouldn't have him in the top 5 players at BPH.

I find that somewhat hard to believe. Out of interest who would you have in front of him? The only obvious one to me would be Jovanovic. None of the others stand out to me. I'd struggle to name more than 3 or 4 others by name.

played against jova when he was at OG he was ok a big man when playing on smaller blokes than him but shut up and went real quiet when he had a bigger bloke put on him

He won bph b&f last year so not sure how he wouldnt be the the top 5.

Would be interested in peoples opinions on the top 3 players from each club. I think he would rate in majority of them.
