Welcome brothers and sisters of the earth. We embrace you with all the love and understanding Mobbs , the great swami of the Sweet FA has to offer. In accordance with the values held so dear by our forefathers and mothers we bring you the Hippy feature match of round 6 starring two of the most unintimidating and least threatening sides in the competition. It is only fitting the match is played between the Gumbies led by Fryer Tuck (the kaftan wearing man of the cloth) and The Royals lovingly guided through the free spirited Sweet FA by joint captains and love gurus Blacky and 3121 premiers. This match promises to be one of free love and psychedelic drug taking culminating in an amalgamation of plasticine and glitter.
A huge turn out is expected with last years Hippy round drawing rapturous crowds.
Pregame entertainment will be provided by the hot new Hippy Boy Band - The Ghost of Paul Revere who no doubt will have the enchanted throngs pulsating and mesmerized with their classic hits such as Granpas Chair, Baba O'Riley and who can forget The Ballad of 20th Maine!!!
The Game
Both teams have taken a typical "whatever will be will be" approach to the season with the Gumbies 3-2 (LWWLW) and the Royals 2-3 (WLLWL). Whatever the outcome there will be peace and love aplenty.
Rd6 Qrownbet odds
Gumbies - $1.80
Royals - $2.10
Who to watch
Gumbies -
Known as "The big 3" BRAB BLERN and Fryer Tuck underpin the Gumbies revival.
BRAB has ruffled a number of feathers outside of the club with his extreme socialist and controversial views. He is living the alternative lifestyle persona in every aspect and rumours abound of his mushroom tea making abilities. However it's on the field that the Plasticine one has been excelling and he currently sits well entrenched in the top 10 in the DT rankings.
BLERN is one to watch but perhaps for the opposite reasons, he plays the part of the free love bard and poet of the group. Seemingly content in his second season at his second club to play second fiddle to Fryer Tuck in the leadership group. Don't be fooled however, there are whispers of sinister undertones within the group led by BLERN. His on field performance however may have stifled his bid at the number one spot, barely holding on to a position in the top 50 DT ranking for the majority of the year. Can he turn it around?
Leading the revival for the Gumbies in Season 26 is the "Padre of Playdough" Fryer Tuck. His ability to get along with everyone, live and let live has him loved by all. But is he too nice? Time will tell.
The Royals
The hippest of Hippies - 3121 premiers is living proof that the mind is a wonderful thing to waste!! He's having a stellar season on field though. Seems the move to a new team has rejuvenated the old lush. Can he keep it up and lead the Royals to victory?
Smartys Power is the rock down back. Can he keep Jivlain from booting a bag? If he can resist a good lie down on the bench for the majority of the game he's a chance. Keep an eye on him!
Thatsapaddlin has been Mr Consistent this season and all eyes will be on him to produce the goods. Sources close to the club say his regular trips to Nimbin are the reason the goods he has been producing are so much in demand. Will he pound the opposition or will he not offer up an ounce of resistance?
