Season 33 Round 1- Mount Buller Demons vs West Coast Wonders at Snow Dome

For the opening round, the SFA has decided to embrace their nerdiness and inner intellectual and recruit likeminded people from the local sqrabble club. This week, the Demons (22 points) host the Wonders (34 points) at the Snow Dome and there will be a friendly sqrabble curtain raiser in the leadup with the player who comes up with the highest scoring word winning important bragging rights.
OFFSEASON
Both of these S32 finalists had busy off seasons as they aim to continue their rebuilds and go deeper into the finals in S33. The Demons relied on their depth to cover for the losses of S32 rookies damicky (19 points) and Pickitt (15 points) as well as league legend pantskyle (18 points) by promoting the classy Callums_Guns (16 points) to cocaptain. They also signed haydo (12 points) to complete the greatest ever comeback story alongside drafting promising rookie PaythePerryman (29 points). The Wonders used their salary cap room to lure experienced, highly rated duo SM (4 points) and NinjaSwan (19 points) from the Phoenix as well as S32 EKA winner damicky on top of promising rookies AnUltimateRessie (18 points) and Cubs2Lions (13 points). In the end, they more than covered for the surprise departures of haydo and Elmer_Judd.
LAST TIME THEY MET
Back in Round 10 of S32, the Demons stormed out of the blocks but kept the wonders in the game at quarter time due to inaccuracy to take a 4.4 to 3.1 league. The trend continued in the second quarter as they kicked 5.5 in response to the Wonders’ 3.1 to surge to a 25 point lead. The Wonders found another gear in the third quarter as they mounted a 5 goal to 1 comeback to claim an unlikely 2 point lead at the final change but they ran out of steam in the final quarter and kicked just 2 goals for the rest of the game and ended up with a 23 point loss to the resurgent Demons.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Last time these teams met @Brenton_Davy (20 points and 112 DT, 33 disposals, 8 tackles) was Best On Ground in a losing cause and massacred his opponent, and was well supported by experienced wonder croweater 41 (14 points and 91 DT, 27 disposals, 1 goal) who lead from the front and never gave up. Returning veteran Loonerty (11 points) capitalised on patches of midfield dominance with 5 goals. The Demons ultimately had too many contributors around the ground last time, including Tarkyn_24 (13 points and 99 DT, 11 tackles, 2 goals), Hate (7 points and 80 DT, 11 hitouts, 1 goal) and Bluelegs (11 points and 92 DT, 25 disposals, 7 marks).
