It’s really good to be honest, the players kind of police themselves by being able to fight. The dude that got knocked out in that fight actually high sticked the Boston captain prior to that fight.

It’s a great sport and the nuances around fighting have just made me love it more tbh.

Can you imagine if AFL players had to answer the bell after an especially dirty hit/tackle... Usually against the team‘s designated fighter too. It would definitely clean up a bit of play from guys who definitely don’t want the smoke.

I just didn't realise it was legitimately part of the game the refs allow until I watched one start to finish, I always thought the hockey movies I watched were just making it more dramatic. Even though I do consider myself to be a loyal Penguins man of 10+ years I hadnt watched a full game until recent years

Well that's harsh tarks. The Royals are here trying to be gracious hosts but the Demons seem intent on raiding our grog cabinet, trashing our house and finally leaving a flaming bag of dog s**t on our door step before leaving. I hope this improves as the week progresses.

Yeah this is a good point, it really annoys me how certain players take cheap shots knowing they aren't going to face any real retaliation. Or just the cheap shirt punches which they do which look so weak.
Having said that, Australian sports fans in general are violent enough without the encouragement of AFL players.
Maybe they should make a concerted effort to bring back brawls at half-time etc to appease both sides.
