Convo messages are stored in plain text. Don't share really private info in there. Not to mention anyone in the convo can just screen grab it. The number of times I have been sent screenshots of convos among some gang of idiots or other plotting some nasty hijinks...
If we wanted to we could query the database for messages. There have been one or more times when we have had to look, for very important reasons but we didn't do it lightly. Use Telegram or Signal if you want 100% privacy in messaging.
