Full Forwards have it easier than every other position, if anything
Lack of FP contenders means that around 3x FFs make it each season, better odds than any other position along with rover/ruck rover etc

Nope. Almost always 2 FFs named. A FF and a CHF or a FF and FP depending on the strength of other candidates.

At times 3 - a FF, FP and CHF.

But it needs to be remembered that FF is a highly desired position and almost always occupied by the best posters.

Compare this to key backs - not desired and lesser posters are named there. Most of the 6 defensive positions go to lesser lights. Given posting is a factor in selection (weighted equally), it is far more difficult as a FF than a key back.

Mids also have it tough due to high quality posters in competition. Mids, however, tend to get named anywhere, including flanks and interchange.

Moreover, the challenge I refer to for FFs is that they tend to be picked on goals alone. If you’re not top 2 or 3, it’s very very very unlikely you’ll be picked. Which is a farce, as posting is weighted equally. If you’re 8th in the goal kicking but only 8 goals behind the leader, but a significantly better poster, you still won’t make it.

The same doesn’t apply to midfield. Posting is a much bigger factor as the selectors don’t just look at one factor (goals). There’s so many statistical categories to compare so posting is emphasised.

FF is the toughest gig for an All Sweet FA gong simply because they’re judged different. And I’ve been admin for 3 seasons and a committee member and captain before that - I’ve seen it first hand.

Otherwise, a league champion and soon to be immortal like me, with 1000 goals, at times in my career one of the top posters in the business, would have more than 5.

If I was a midfielder I’d have 8-9 for sure due to longevity and quality.
