I thought about restoring antique vices, got any advice? :p

Plan to continue coding software/firmware just for my own yuks, maybe get back into Android development (if I can come up with some ideas for stuff I want, not for $). I already participate in a couple of open source projects.

Want to get a mariner's license, to free up a couple of minor business ideas. Or so I can pilot rich bastards yachts up and down the coast.

Travel.

I have a couple of basket case Ford Mustangs that need restoration.
I like the Mustang thing, ( you'll need a vice :) )
I enjoy restoring cars (Chargers mainly), been stuffing around with them since I was 10 (dads always had vintage english cars)

Just doing vices/sidchrome now as no room and to keep my skills up.
The vices are weird just so simple, like the no bullshit factor and age.
And yes, if you ever do one, please ask, I probably go overboard but why do something if your not going to give it your best.

I may have gone overboard as usual, a bit over 30 now, had to buy another display cabinet.:)

My clan has always veered mechanical. Did one Mustang back in the 80s, but it needs a full going-through.

What I really need to do is practice my TIG welding... the one has a lot of unibody rust.

Just remembered I actually picked up a 60's Mustang from wharf- ex USA, and spent a fair amount of time tidying it up and getting it on the road for a friend, was the last car I've done.

I still love that so much 🤣

Huge congrats on the whole retirement thing too mate - enjoy the next stage, hope it brings you oodles of joy and good health. Spending your time doing things you want to, rather than have to do is where it's at.

Americans. If they can simplify they will even if it’s absolute carnage of a meal.
I don’t imagine, and I’m not one to judge but I can’t imagine the normal ‘American’ diet is anywhere near a healthy one.

You know what really gets me? The Cheetos-dust-encrusted human vegetables using those stupid apps and services to literally lie around on their couch all day. Uber Eats or Doordash for their shitty fast food meals, or even fancy restaurant meals, straight to their butt-shaped holes on the furniture.

A) I don't want some random clod fooling around with my grub,
B) Delivery services extract at least 30% of the restaurants' profit margin right off the table.

What is the actual problem with getting the * out of the house for 15 minutes to go pick up your meal, if you want to eat it at home?

I also don't like those grocery shopping services... I'll pick my damned produce out myself, thank you very much.

Thanks, friend!

We're doing it when we're still young enough to hopefully enjoy some quality time.

I also have parents not aging well, have to figure out how to coax them to make better choices, which was part of the decision process.

Hey, do you folks have anything like 'horny toads' Down Under?

These things used to be all over the Mojave Desert when I were a wee tot. Was fun to catch and release them.

Wikipedia says they're a N. America thing:

but also pointed me to these guys:

Yeah central Oz dry/desert, East coast we get a few friendly visitors which are reasonably common instead.

Princess Irwin could probably tell you all about them.

Yes yes yes! If I can’t pick it up, touch it, squeeze it and smell it…..

I hear you! I don’t want someone who doesn’t give a shit throwing my groceries into a bag in 15 minutes. There is an art to grocery shopping 🤣

I could actually. I’m forever rescuing them from our dogs.
Australia has 6 varieties of the blue tongue skink. They can also be found in Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.

They give birth to live young. And can be seen mostly in Spring after their brumnation (which is the same as hibernation in the lizard world)

When startled, their defence mechanisms is opening their mouths and flashing their blue tongues.
Non venomous and harmless to humans 😬

Omg! While we are on the subject…
I don’t know if others states have noticed but the regular skink that used to be like an inch and 1/2 long are now running around as 30cm sized dinosaurs leaving rat sized shits!

Like, they have seriously evolved into huge freaking lizards who cruise under my back door looking for scraps like a dog.

Makes me think the world is reversing and before you know it, humans will be hunted!
🤣🤣🤣

(Ps. If you ever search for a gif - big skinks. Maybe don’t. Definitely off topic and I can’t show you bc someone might report it!)
