Welcome to a new season of qooty. The Sweet FA is back with the first round of the thirty eighth season!

Before we get into it lets quickly recap Season 37

When the siren sounded to end the Grand Final the Ophidian Old Boys won their second flag in just their fourth season in the league. OOBs rookie and EKA winner myblueroan also took home the Deestroy medal to go along with an All-SFA selection to cap off a fantastic first season.

pantskyle the all time league leader in MM votes won a second Mobbenfuhrer Medal with a mammoth 22 votes but was strangely overlooked for All-SFA selection

Brenton Davy won their first Fred Medal and got their first All-SFA finishing the season with 84 goals

Falconista went back to back in the Frankston Rover award, an amazing achievement, but wasn't done there also winning the Beez with 1510 votes

JoshWoodenSpoon won the TFLUA-Tiger award

The spoon was "won" by the Bombers despite both the Furies and Hawks receiving penalty points.

But now its Season 38 and the slate is wiped clean, every team starts with an equal chance of victory and every player with an equal shot at accolades

Matchup
The East Side Hawks returned to their original branding in Season 37 and welcomed back many club legends, but the first season was not a successful campaign on field. The Fighting Furies were slightly more successful on field, but off field dramas cost them 8 points and the two clubs finished season 37 next to each other in 11th and 12th

The Furies and Hawks have met 62 times with the Hawks holding an 8 game lead 35-27. The Furies won the only match between the clubs in Season 37 and will be looking to continue to close the gap.

Both teams will be looking to get Season 38 started with a win, the Furies with a largely unchanged lineup from last season, the Hawks have brought in five more experienced players in hopes of finding success.

Captains please note Team Sheets are due by 11:59pm AWST Thursday

I turned up to the Hippodrome because the Old Boys have a bye this week,
looking at the state of the place I'm not sure the Furies have returned from their end of season trip yet!

I think you've been celebrating your 2nd flag too much, went past the Furies a couple weeks back to catch up with an old friend and it hasn't changed since you left

Hang on, I'm bamboozled? Who were the Hawks last season?
They changed back to the Hawks last season. They were the Fenix prior to that.

What an honour to take the field for the most hard-working, dedicated, well-prepared Qooty team in the league.

Unfortunate for the Hawks to have to face us first up.
