The Wonders made me think of this movie. They eventually become 'The Wonders' after starting out as the 'Oneders'. Steve Zahn is hilarious in it.

Film is called "That Thing You Do". A band 'The Oneders' (pronounced Wonders) have a hit, but need to change to 'The Wonders' because it looked it should be pronounced O-nee-ders. I agree it's very silly.
