I'll let it go after this too, but if the odds were short, ala $5 for other, I'd assume that means any other because there are multiple winning outcomes. Whereas if the odds were $1,001 for other, I'd assume you'd have to select an "other".

Yeah it was a competition where one of the questions where who was the Top Scorer. There was a drop down box with the usual suspects (Messi, Ronaldo and so on) and one of those options was ‘Other’. There was a box next to that question as well so when I said the odds made it clear you specify, I meant that since you were selecting one player all of which effectively the same odds, it makes sense that the ‘Other’ option would also be picking one player. Especially with a box to fill in next to it which didn’t need to be filled in if you chose anyone else. There was a bit of a palaver about it but ultimately the prize money wasn’t large enough to be worth it (it was a work event), and when I made my point on the principle they accepted that it was misleading and they should have made clear one of the options was ‘anyone not on the drop down list’ so other people would have had the chance to choose it. They said they would reward the other guy though.
