Round 3 gets underway with as blockbuster at the MCG. The reigning champions South Australia bounced back to form in Round 2, with a big win over the winless Allies. While a confident Vic Metro side dismantled an up and about WA side with a big win of their own in their first match of Series XV.

Vic Metro won big on Saturday, registering a win under first time skipper NaturalDisaster, and starting off their series in style. With their 2nd home game in a row in Round 3, they will be looking to turn the tables on the South Australians, who embarrassed them the last time these two sides met, with the croweaters dominating an out of form Metro side, demolishing them by 56 points at Adelaide Oval. Metro would be liking their chances given the home ground advantage this time around however, as they will be looking to make the perfect start of 2-0 from their first two games in Series XV.

South Australia would be confident of stealing a win here in Melbourne having enjoyed the wood over the Vic Metro side in recent encounters, winning 4 of the last 5 matches between the two sides, and leading the all time ledger 4-2. They bounced back to form on Saturday, as they too had a healthy win, dispatching a lowly Allies side at the SCG by 33 points. With their title defence back on track, skipper spookism would be bullish about their chances on Tuesday, knowing this South Australian side has a good spread of contributors and the firepower to match a Vic Metro side who look ready to challenge in Series XV.

Players to watch

g8diPE5.png

Antonio BlueVein

S28 rookies have already made an impact in Series XV, and ABV was another to make his mark, with his Round 2 performance against WA definitely catching the eye. 24 touches, 7 marks and a goal from a wing in his State of Origin debut is sure to have impressed the Metro selectors, and should see him spend even more time out in the middle in Round 3. Looks set to face off with new teammate cadsky in a match up set to give the winner bragging rights at Baghdad come pre-season.

DemonJim

The Demons veteran had another fine individual season on the slopes in S28, with the Mount Buller mid producing yet another top 10 finish in the Mobbs Medal. DJ was everywhere on Saturday, as he put in a powerful performance at centre half forward, with 3 goals to go with 19 touches, his 4 marks giving Metro a crucial marking target up the line at times against WA. He would be looking to make amends for a poor showing last time these two sides met, and if his Round 2 form is anything to go by, he will quickly erase the memories of Series XIV.

Tony Lynn 15

Adjudged best on ground in Round 2, Tony delivered for Metro in a key match up against WA ruck rover and All-SFA vice captain TheInjuryFactory, taking the chocolates and powering the Vic Metro side home to victory at the G. Uncle Tony was everywhere on Saturday, racking up an equal game high 24 possessions and pushing forward and snaring a goal to give the Metro side another option up front. Another Metro player with a poor effort the last time these two sides met, he would be looking to turn around his 9 disposal effort in Series XIV this week against the croweaters.

sausageroll

S29 EKA fancy sausageroll will be one to watch this weekend, after he turned back the clock against the Allies, amassing 23 touches, 5 marks and 2 goals in what was another powerful overall display from a key forward in Round 2, as the centre half forward imposed himself on the match and stretched an under siege Allies defence. With just a solitary kick to his name the last time these sides met, is another who’ll be looking to respond in Series XV.

Golumless

Taking up the ruck duties for SA in Series XV, the Series XIV vice skipper was imposing on Saturday, comprehensively outplaying his opponent Allies vice captain AceAndy, with his around the ground game in particular impressing as he racked up 19 touches and 3 goals in a powerful display. This week he’ll tackle the Roys’ JackNah_8, who had a solid outing against WA, with the winner of this match up to go a long way to deciding the match.

philreich

Another week, another big performance from the S28 Mobbs medallist. With a newfound role at full forward for South Australia in Series XV, the new Swamprats skipper proved there’s nothing he can’t do, as the superstar went big against the Allies on Saturday, finishing with a bag of 6 in the most dominant forward performance of Series XV to date. Swamprats teammate and Allies fullback Nunez had no answers against the big man, as he ran riot at the SCG. Metro fullback okeydoke7 will have his hands full on Tuesday, as the Rats skipper seeks to see his South Australians go back to back in Series XV.

All we have to do here is beat a bunch of overhyped Victorians. They on the other hand have to knock off the reigning champs: an unenviable task indeed.

You’re in our house, we don’t play nice here

That's only because you've got a few Bombers on your side ......I continue to be underrated in the first 3 games by the SOO orator .....he has always sought to undermine my natural talent

You want to bring the rough stuff? Bring it on dude - we thrive on it, and give it back with interest.
Sorry, but I did break out in a loud LOL ...... philreich talking tough, is akin to Shirley Temple chucking a tanty

Baron Gill (the upper class dill), Melbourne Club member, Collins St and Docklands farmer and the Earl of McLaughlinland has today agreed to sponsor the wearing of 20 sets of bespoke tailored fawn velvet shorts by his team the Victorian Metrognomes.

This is a boon for the cash strapped Metrognomes. They were understood to be on their uppers and down to a mere holding of 75 Brighton and Toorak mansions.

Unrest had been reported in the Metrognome camp where captain NaturalDisaster had been criticised for skimping by reusing Ming Dynasty fine china cups for the team's soy lattes. Bon vivant rookie, capitalist roader and leading supporter of the Carlolton Prattite Polo Club Antonio BlueVein was furious, What else can we launch over the Yarra Drain as those peasants to our north and west.

Meanwhile it seems that people actually do live in the previously thought to be vacant state of South Australia. Spokesperoffspring of the of the SA Jellybacks, philreich was heard to say, "We are in fact people and not just the shades of the Essington Lewis, Downer and McLaughlin clans and BHP. Yes, the Metrognomes new velvet shorty shorts are quaint but wait to you get a load of our fishnet trackie dacks.

In a match for the ages, it seems the Metrognomes are taking on the Jellybacks. Chukka one, Chukka two anyone?

How can you tell when B52 is typing crap? When his fingers touch the keyboard :).

Geebers, I thought I was being generous to the Jellybacks. I had even conceded real folk lived in SA and they were not populated from a petrie dish scraped from the bottom of a Snowtown barrel.

Surely ya Shirleys would concur with the factual analysis of the Vic Metrognomes I provided?

You’re already drunk aren't you? Actually probably still drunk from last night.
If by drunk you mean completely obliterated by dumplings after eating an inordinate amount of them
before dinner then finishing it off with a large serve of chicken noodles then yes, yes I am still drunk from last night.

36 was the number of dumplings I ate as a precursor btw.

You know I don’t really drink mate?!

Edit: you had 5 minutes to fix YOUR spelling mistake. I’ve taken the liberty of editing it for you to avoid further embarrassment.
First one is on the house.
