Re: Beams in the clear

I don't know mate. Eddie has been sticking up for the boys all along.

He was pissed when they were named and has stated that the 2 boys were adamant they had done nothing wrong.

Everything that most of us have heard is that Beams has no case. It's not his fault the media run with things. You can't sack him for that.

Naming is a seperate incident, it was wrong as they are entitled to privacy whilst the investigation is ongoing. Does not change the fact that his conduct put him in this situation.

Eddie hates the sensationilst side of these stories as he and Quatermain were caught up in a rape case many years ago and despite being nothing more than innocent bystandsers were dragged through the press.

Re: Beams in the clear

I've heard the same from a mate who is a detetective
I'm not having a go at your mate Caj but after my experiences on jury duty when 'suggestions' were made to jury members from judges clerks you'll forgive me if I'm slightly skeptical in this matter. I don't mean your mate is lying or clueless - simply that he may not be in the know.

Well the fact he is under investigation means he is in trouble, how much no one but the police and DPP know. And the police would not talk to anyone on this due to the serious nature and media interest.

Re: Beams in the clear

I am not refering to this case per say, moreso to a pattern of behavior that despite warnings and close shaves does not appear to have altered. This behaviour is putting him in dangerous situations that the club would prefer he did not.

The GF night episode was the latest in a series of events and for some was a tipping point. As I said when everyone calms down it may change but there are some peeved people at the club.

I have no idea re guilt or not, but he keeps ending up in dangerous situations.

Please enlighten me to theses incidents. I am aware he was dropped for one game early this year.
What do all these other indiscretions entail?

Re: Beams in the clear

The mail I have received is that Beams is in a serioud bind. You don't hire Victoria's top 2 QC's for a matter "he is in the clear about".

You do if you are a Collingwood player and have at least a smidgeon of brains.

Re: Beams in the clear

We won't know anything concrete until after the election. This is a high profile case & the last thing that is needed is another DPP investigation. It's very much a wait & see.

Re: Beams in the clear

Fail thread title and OP, this is as bad as the threads during trade weeks that went something like:

Title: Tarrant to Collingwood
Opening post: Hi guise I think This Deal will Happen.

Yeah its pretty standard procedure for high profile individuals to get lawyered up as soon as this type of accusation is made.

I still haven't heard any sort of concrete accusations made, lots of hysteria and innuendo but not one single shred of anything implicating anyone.

If the boys have done wrong they should be tied to the mast and flogged -figuratively. However all this wild speculation is doing no-one any good. I said a few posts back that this thread is heading the same way the other one was. We all have concerns and would be dissapointed if the boys were found to be implicated - but judging by some of the posts some would be less disappointed than most. As witness the hijacking of this thread.

DPP is in turmoil over nepotism claims at the moment and one of the things specifically mentioned was that the rape dvision was badly impacted. Might take longer than normal.

Gee morges its not like you to make 10 sensationalist claims everyday of every week, you are usually such a reserved sort of guy

Re: Beams in the clear

Look you could be right but from what I have heard from his first season and then these publicised incidents this year I do wonder but I had forgotten about Swannie. I don't put Didak's incident and the Didak + Shaw incident in the same category.[/quote]

Just interested in why should we not compare the issues/situation.

Well the Didak incident did not constitute anything that could result in jail time.

Shaw and Didak was drink driving, not sexual assault. I know drink driving can result in jail and they could have harmed people but in this instance they didn't

Swans could have resulted in jail time and is thus comparable.

Re: F!@#ing Great... sex assault allegations

This is a message on behalf of the mods to explain the deleting of posts in this thread, and also as a warning for posting to come. This is a football forum and whilst the original allegations where directly linked to our club I can / could understand the interest in whether our players are guilty or not. Of late it has gone way beyond that, the level of cyber stalking has gone to far and in some cases to cyber bullying. The second allegation hasn't even been linked to any of our players, and may not go any further then a small article in the Herald Sun, there is, at this time no reason for anyone to be wasting time or effort trying to follow it up outside. Looking for personal information of people suspected to be invovled is totally uncalled for and as mentioned earlier really borders on the cyber stalking side.

To be honest whilst by and large the majority of the posters in this thread have been well mannered and well thought out, there has also been a large amount that has been disgusting. There has been no news on the original matter in around a week and the second matter at this point doesn't impact or club and more then likely never will. So unless something new comes to light there really isn't much to discuss in this thread. Posts discussing or asking for personal information of anyone involved in the case, speculating as to what has happened in either case or just plain unwarranted bumping of this thread will be deleted with a high possibility of the poster being carded.

When the news broke it was understandable that people wanted to discuss it but there has been, and probably won't be nothing for a fair while now, so I think it's about time we just let the matter play out.

Just a reminder.

Just shows ya. I thought Shaw was driving. I heard that Didak was in the back seat. I didnt realise that both were driving the car at the time. Just shows ya how we all get bad information sometimes...

Not getting into the guilty or not guilty shit because I simply dont have a clue and am not going to comment on things I dont know about.

I do ask the question however.

If Beams or Mccarthy are charged with any serious crime.Do you think the club should stand them down from football duties and give them a leave of absence until all proceedings are over?

YES - no option - stood down from playing duties but the club stands by them financially and supports them through the criminal procedings

I don't think the club will be paying for their legal fees. It should come out of there own pockets IMO.

LOL.
Didak has twice been vilified for getting a lift after a few too many.
Well **** me.!!!!

He's actually a role model. TAC should jump on board.

No Pies Charged over Sexual Assault

He has been bailed by police to appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday.
While two Collingwood players have been interviewed over the alleged sexual assault on the night of the Grand Final Replay, two sources have confirmed to AAP that the 22-year-old is not an AFL player.
Police are still searching for two women they would like to speak to in relation to a related sexual assault on the same night.

Sounds Very Promising

Channel 10 just said that a 22 year old man has been charged with multiple rape, attempted rape and indecent assault, related to the night of the GF Replay.

Police say the two AFL players were interviewed, but the man charged is not a Collingwood player.
