Tallarook for me, Joey and Wattsie to get us off to a flyer , Howie the Bigshow, The sloth and Al to keep the score ticking along in the middle order then Dundon and Capuano for some late order big hitting to push along the score to a winning total. Capuano to take 5 with the pill, with Joey, Dundon and The cougar to share the rest.

I will have to disagree, i think the Lakers have set themselves for this and have flown under the radar which is ideal. Look out for a big performance from their talented Rohan Murray with both bat and ball to get them over the line in what will be his last match for the Lakers before he crosses over to Seymour in a bid to play A grade

i agree. rohan murray is the difference in this game and will tear it apart with his dashing shots and super quick seemers. the hill wont be able to match the one-man band lead by rohan "the man" murray.

have also heard "the man" is on the move to seymour to play a grade, as he is way above the b grade standard. linked with glen dowling in the move back to seymour to take over the a grade captaincy.

haha yeh they might well be Grandale, but seeing that myself and zero2hero are a couple average b-grades at best, they probably can't take too much out of it. i expected a bit more from the tallarook boys, seeing as they finished top in the b-grade and have a minimum of two changes from last weeks a-grade side. who are the hot tips to come in for dav martin and leigh irving? any other changes to be made?

My opinion for who should take over from the 2 young guys in the Tallarook A Grade side ( if it's ok with The Postman ) is Sam Watts and one Joey Pollock. Would not be surprised tho if a the rook selectors pull a rabbit out of the hat and amaze everybody!!

Good luck to all sides playing in the grand finals this week and may the better side on the day win!! :thumbsu:

How can he be overlooked given his deeds in the One-Day Grand Final...

So Dowling's running the show now is he?
Jason Brown = life member and heart and soul of the SCC and Dowling just strolls in and takes away the captaincy whenever he decides he wants it.
Shame, shame, shame...

dowling is a good keeper but has he ever and i mean ever made a run! cant remember seeing his name get amongst the runs nive played against him since the under 12 days
dont think he would captain seymour either

Cricket is a team game but for my selection.
If Pearce fires with the Pill Avenel. If Joey Tarran Fires with both the Rook.
Was only reading a score card from the Rook on Saturday afternoon where Pearcey rocked the Rooks world in a final couple of years ago befor Brett & Joey dug em out the $hit.
Now I would think its a similar situation With Pearcey even sharper and the Tarrans ageing but in saying that Joey is an absolute FREAK(3 tons in a row - even more wickets).

Ill tip Swans on the back of a big effort from Pearcey but would not lay money out on it.

Big effort from pearce?? what he is not going to hide himself down the order in this years final? Dont tell me the skipper is going to lead from the front this year?? I guess he may want to improve on last years effort when he couldn't even get near lets say a ball the size of someones head....

By reports he has been working hard on his batting with North Melbourne, scoring 45, 20 and 25 in his last three hits in the thirds which is an obvious improvement. Hopefully with a full pre-season under his belt and more time spent with their batting coach he can churn out some runs...

Two changes Im led to believe, as we all know Irving & Martin out, with veterans Watts and Hateley coming in. Did you have inside knowledge Howie?

Gotta feel for me young pal Joey, was actually excited yet nervous at work today at the feint hope he may have got a run - with a few players carrying injuries maybe they just needed an extra net bowler for the week Joey

Thers's no way Jazzy could have inside knowledge as he hasn't been sighted at the club since x-mas and has actually been registered as a missing person. Would ya believe he's not even gunna front up for the G/F or the Presentation night a couple of weeks later? What a sh*t bloke. LOL.
As for selection, we all feel for the blokes that have legitimate claims and miss out, but for what it's worth I reckon they got it just about right.
Anyway Good luck to all those fortunate enough to be playing this weekend and lets hope that the "ROOK" can bag another flag.

Yeah been there meself so know what guys like Joey are going thru, best thing about it though is Im sure Joey will be there with bells on the support his mates as thats the kinda bloke he is. As for Howie I thought he was on the executive, has he lost the plot :p

The Rook must win the toss and bat first to have any chance of winning it IMO - 100 overs in the field first could almost decide their fate by Satdy night.

A season in District ranks, where batting will come into it regards what grade he plays, will no doubt have aided Dowling's cause (knowing when to play the big shots has been his biggest issue), but when it comes to the SDCA I don't really think it matters how a bloke goes with the bat when they are as good with the gloves as what Glen is.
His final two seasons with Seymour before heading down to Melbourne would have to have been up there with as good as there's been in the SDCA in the past 10-12 years (Mick Brown would have been his only serious competition), which means while it would have been good if he had have been able to scrounge a few more runs, he more than made up for his batting failures with his keeping.
Seymour had a pretty solid bowling line-up this year but they would have been made to look even better had Glen played.

That's a fair point Doona, especially given the Rookers have brought in two blokes over 50 (again, where is this competition heading?)
It's an amazing thing "runs on the board". Last year you could not have put enough money on Avenel at 3/150 chasing our 250, but chasing runs in big games does funny things.
The other thing is the recent trend in A Grade Grand Finals is the home side's failure to win:
2002/03 - Heathcote lost to Broadford
2003/04 - Seymour lost to Avenel
2004/05 - Didn't Broadford lose to Avenel at home?
2005/06 - Avenel lost to Seymour.

I was referring to his bowling buddy

Bit dissapointing to see that Joey Pollock missed out on selction for the big day. Dont no how a regular a and b grader throughout the year can be overlooked the week before for either of the finals, bit stiff in my book but "them the breaks". Hopefully the Rook will bat first, cant imagine J.Tarran, B.Tarran A Callaghan, A Howard, S Watts and Cricket Hately being at there best after chasing the ball round the park for 100 overs with a few carrying injuries, especially Howie who will now be exposed to the Outfield with the inclusion of Cricket Hately :D . If the rook bat first, it should put them in a winning position. Tallarook for me.:thumbsu:

I agree totally Grandale , every half chance a keeper holds is worth 10 runs minimum, people have to remember that he was only a kid learning a pretty hard trade

Good luck to everyone today Avenel for me in the big one, and the hill in b grade with my little mate dozza getting a 100

i went to both the games a and b grade the rook bowled out avenel for bout 100 odd i guessing the last i saw the swans were 9 for 90 odd
and the hill bowled out nagambie 4 180 odd and we are 0 for 20 or 30.dont no wat every 1 is goin on bout that murry kid not as good as wat a few ppl have said that simon hepburn is better sharp bowler to and can bat a bit

does ne 1 now how many wicket joey tarran took today he had bout 4 or 5 wen i came down for a look...leggo man, jazzy ne news??

5/44 from 27 I was told, amazing return by one of the SDCA's greats. Avenel 102 vs Tallarook 3/50 at stumps.

C Grade
Kilmore 167 d Yea 2 132
Kilmore looked home after the 6th sover with yea 3-3 and then 6-30 but late order hitting got them within 50 or so only 8 down. i think the number 10 made 45.
