Harmes could've stayed, but was on the edge of our best-22, same as McAdam. Dude's played what, 50 games?
Petty's about as relevant to a McAdam trade as us asking for Fogarty.
That's not the point, you didn't want to pay his contract anymore as you don't consider him in your best 22 (just like what has happened to Grundy) so was traded for unders. McAdam is consider in our best 22 which is why he is still a required play and we increased the years to match Melbourne's offer.

Personally a future 2nd offered is around the mark... but the issue is we need to replace him with a player with experience.
Perhaps a 3rd club becomes involved & we trade in someone like Hayward.

McAdam can be a difference maker but geez he’d want to put together a 20 game season soon. For an array of factors the best he’s ever done is 15.

A future 2nd is more than generous. Sparrow is better and younger. Petty is too important to us. If Adelaide really wanted Petty they'd have to over pay by probably 2x firsts and a 2nd rounder. He's too important to us. As Riley Beveridge said, if Petty wasn't injured we probably win the flag so trading Petty now could arguably cost us another flag.
The calibre of players we'd trade for Mcadam would be guys like Melksham, Spargo, Tomlinson etc.
