Could be short lived if we on trade him, 13 and Carlton's second to St Kilda's for their pick 4.
Can't see it happening but it could be an out of the box Hamish move

Trade period is still going

I don’t think clubs are allowed to on trade players they’ve just traded for. But regardless, we’re keeping him.

Welcome Shane!

Just to let you know, the two young lads who were doing all the menial tasks - like chasing around after rebounding defenders - have both left in the last year for promotions at other clubs.

Please review their notes as you will be doing both of their jobs next year.:

Key responsibilities:
- chasing around after rebounding defenders
- flying for pack marks our senior guys aren’t keen on being smashed by, they are all 36 years old and it’s not really their thing anyway
- 2 or so highlight reel plays per game
- did we mention the chasing?

If you really nail it, then you too may be fielding offers for more money from worse clubs, sooner than you think.

Best of luck!

We Photoshopped him in a Crows guernsey and announced he joined the club, doubt he's getting traded.

That's what I thought, watched his clip and thought, have we just replaced McGov?

With somebody shorter and easier to match up on?

Hope he's a gun, but the highlights and descriptions looked and sounded like McGovern, except smaller.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think we can do that.

Carlton and GC were able to sign and on-trade, but I wouldn't think that extends to clubs who received one of the state league players as a result of the concessions.

So anyone in the know explain why it has taken him to 24 to be listed?

I'm not disputing talent, just don't get how it was missed for 6 years.

Missed being drafted and just fell off the grid for a few years (playing ammos in the Kimberlys) is the general gist of it from my understanding.

I'm guessing this could just be someone with all of the tools but didn't have much in the way of attitude at the time, whereas now he's grown up.

Well technically we didn't trade for McAdam .....he was classified as a Free Agent, so he had to agree to join us

Had all the talent, but not the drive .......lost two years having a kick & giggle with mates ....then realising how much he loved the game

This is the right age now for McAdam ....a bit more maturity, and now knowing what he really wants

Rowie saw a lot of Willie Rioli at state level, says Macadam is above him and below Ryan. Says Ryan has more tricks

Pretty happy to have Shane on board.

Anyone else find it a little strange the highlight reel AFC posted is just a compilation of the small amount of clips of him already available on YouTube?

It's no biggie just would have thought we would have had other footage we could use. Look at how long the clips are when we draft an 18 yo.

Reid claimed people they'd spoken with and the AFC rated him 15-20. I reckon that's about 20 picks too high.....
Not just that, the guys on tradio radio (the manager hour) also rated him that highly and had feedback from. Non afc people to the same.

Scouts keeping close eye on high-flying Sturt forward Shane McAdam ahead of AFL draft
HE hails from a WA town of fewer than 2000 people, is the nephew of a Magarey Medallist, has a leap to rival Nic Naitanui and is building one of the SANFL’s best highlight reels.

Sturt’s Shane McAdam has emerged as the state league’s most promising mature-age AFL draft prospect this year after kicking 21 goals from 10 games.

McAdam – originally from Halls Creek and the nephew of 1989 Magarey Medallist Gilbert McAdam – joined the Double Blues during pre-season from division three Adelaide Footy League club Scotch Old Collegians.

Since then, the 23-year-old forward has taken several SANFL mark of the year contenders, become just as renowned for his chase-down tackles and is now being watched closely by scouts each week.

One AFL recruiter says McAdam, who is 185cm and 84kg, has a lot of traits that appeal to teams at the elite level.

“He’s quick, he tackles, he’s good overhead and he’s got a good goal sense,” says the recruiter, who has seen McAdam play several times this season.

“Some forwards are talented offensively but don’t really switch on quickly defensively but this bloke goes from attack to defence pretty quick.

“I’ve got no idea where he’ll end up going but there’ll be plenty of (AFL) clubs looking at him.”

McAdam’s football journey started with his hometown Halls Creek Hawks, in the East Kimberley league, near the Northern Territory border.

He returned to the Hawks for part of 2016 after playing 11 WAFL games for Claremont the previous season.

“He was very good – just a natural,” Halls Creek’s long-time president Trish McKay says.

“He knew where to go and what to do, and he was very happy-go-lucky.”

Former Sturt player Shane Radbone helped get McAdam to Scotch Old Collegians last year and was also a link to him going to Unley, along with McAdam’s cousin, Double Blue Tye Bedford.

McAdam booted 28 goals in 11 games for Scotch, including 11 majors in a best-on-ground performance against Broadview in May 2017.

“The first thing I said when I saw him was if he wants to make it, he’ll make it,” Scotch coach and ex-South Adelaide player Kym Cobb says.

Cobb remembers McAdam had “the ball on a string” in the game versus Broadview.

“When he wasn’t marking it that day, he was dancing around blokes and snapping them out of his backside,” he recalls.

Dual Sturt premiership coach Marty Mattner says McAdam is one of the most exciting players he has coached but is not surprised by his progress

Mattner was aware of McAdam’s talent last year after he arrived in town too late to make Sturt’s squad.

“It was probably just his fitness that he lacked the most because he’d played at an amateur level,” Mattner says.

“He can do everything – chase, tackle, take a pack mark, be a lead-up forward.

“He’s something you don’t see in the SANFL that much because those guys are good and playing in the AFL.
