What are peoples thought on this guy? Has he snuck under the radar? He is in his second season on an AFL list, played two games and seems to have andled the transition from VFL/AFL with aplomb. He was very good on Friday night as he was on Anzac day. I have added him to my super coach which I urge all Collingwood supporters do because he is only worth $83 thousand and with him getiing plenty of the football and using it well he is set to be a great investment.

I am exited about this kid, I think he has a very bright future.

...I don't trade until Friday. But if he's named, I'll be downgrading Bird to him, to free up some cashhhhhhhh.

But yes, he's the goods. I've loved him since I first saw him in the VFL last year.

i've had him and cotchin as my emergencies all year. Finally i have some midfield flexibility. just waiting for their values to sky rocket so i can cash in and make a charge towards the finals :)

Lockyer Maxwell and OBrien were also rookies. So too Shannon Cox, who is flying in the VFL. We're doing ok for promoted rookies.

I am praying to all the gods with ears to listen that he keeps progressing. He is just what we need: A pacy mid that can win their own ball and possess the vision and skill to use it well.

Loved his goal, taking the ball on the move outside 50 and using his pace to split two Saints defenders before putting it through from 40.

That bit of play showed a lot of confidence and composure for a 2nd gamer.

give me a break! not saying he wont be, but i odnt think you can make that judgment on what we have seen thus far!
Why not?

Which midfielder is out of the side that will return to take Wellingham's spot?

We have the balance right at the moment with the amount of midfielders vs. flankers vs. ruckmen vs. KPPs, so it would have to be a midfielder to displace him.

Brodie Holland and Ryan Lonie are finished. Danny Stanley, Sam Iles and Ryan Cook haven't looked nearly as good at AFL level in limited exposure as Sharrod has. Chris Egan and Alan Toovey look closer to being delisted than getting another AFL game. John McCarthy, Jaxson Barham and Kevin Dyas are untried and unready.

On top of that, he's probably played about as well as Ben Johnson and Martin Clarke in his two games, so he might not even be the first player dropped in the event that someone turns it up at VFL level.

Name me the player waiting to take Sharrod's spot in the midfield, and I'll concede that he's not in our best 22.

Is it just me, or does this guy move a hell of alot like Pendles???
Just has a great ability to read the play and seems to have all the time in the world with such little space.
Looks the goods. :thumbsu:

yeah furry muf! I agree that he has alot of upside, but his downside is also evident! Im not sure that giving a guy that lost a 200k sponsorship the freedom of thinking his spot in the 1's cemented! His discipline could waver again. Iles, cook, stanley, anthony, goldie, lonie are all viable options.

Kids are found out as the season progresses and dont be suprised if that happens to sharrod. Alot of upside but am weary of giving him these accolades this early! Dont think its fair for the likes of Iles who played an awesome game against sydney and got no where. I dare say that his performances are even better then sharrods at the VFL level.

Will be good to see how sharrod stands up against the cats! there will be no where to hide...

His discipline could waver again, but he could also develop into the player we have always needed with the added responsibility. I doubt very much that MM would tell any young player, that they have cemented their spot. However i think if they demonstrate on the field that they warrant another game [ which Sharrod has ] then they will get more opportunities to play.

Whose spot is he taking? In direct reference to the role he's playing in the side, and not talent wise.

He's not taking anybody's spot at this stage, although he's head to head with Cook. Definitely in our best 22 this week and next.

However to call a 2 gamer an automatic selection is a bit of premature adulation, imo.
