Shaun Burgoyne offered 2 weeks with an early plea

Been following it for 50 years you turkey. Seen plenty of snipers in my time and Burgoyne is right up there with the best of them.

I would have expected a more balance mature response from a mature age footy fan, not the attempted troll of a 12 year old girl!

grow up and act your age!

To be honest, perfectly good decision. MY ASS IT WAS ACCIDENTAL

The bloke went in, look at his frinking eyes, lined up Hayes whilst he was just about on the ground.

God, the way he went for the high contact, could have been 6 weeks.

He should count himself very lucky to get 2 weeks, watching it live (TV) you could tell what his intention was. There was no need to fall across and try and crunch him head high, it was a dangerous act. Hayes went straight off into the rooms and had the doctors look at him straight away, it was very lucky it was not more serious. You can put all the spin on it as you want but as a neutral supporter watching the game the instant he done it he was always going to get suspended it was just, how long.

Your confusinf Hayes going off later in the game with a broken collarbone to the Shaun instance are you not ?

no not at all, if you watch the replay after he was tackled and crunched to the head, he went off straight away and went into the rooms, the shoulder injury came latter.

well i have hayes and shaun in my dream team so hayes has to be traded and would really like shaun back so he should contest

i havent seen the incident but
footy is becomming softer these days
for all those st kilda supporters still bitter over your pathetic exuse for a football team who have never played the game before

playing in those conditions is the toughest football you can play and people go sliding in to tackles and dive all over going for the ball

im guessing wat happened was just one of those unavoidable wet football incidents

also holding the ball has to be looked at very seriously by the afl

i got pinged for dragging it in on the weekend and got up with no complaint and the ump later told me i was stiff to get done

i also umpire footy and will never be persuaded into playing these ridiculous, soft, pathetic exuses for free kicks

I certainly didn't see that ... not saying your wrong though, but dont have a recording to confirm it ... either way I'd be interested in any injury being Shaun or the tackle.

Burgoyne damaged it, wasn't yet broken but he was sore. I'm saying this from the St. Kilda's doctors mouth.

If Burgoyne didn't do this reckless high contact, we wouldn't be having this disscusion as Lenny wouldn't be out for 6-8 weeks and leaving our mids in tatters.

Make up your mind - did Burgoyne get his collarbone or his head?

Last I saw, hip-and-shoulder to the collarbone (ie shoulder) was legal - hence Shaun gets off.

SO, if you are right, can you please defend Shaun Burgoyne tomorrow night, testifying that there was no high contact and the bump was to the shoulder?

And if you are wrong, then Shaun did not contribute to the collarbone injury.

I would put the "Bassett" defence into practice...

"When I was committed to the bump, Hayes was in a position to take the ball and be bumped.
He was then slinged across and down, and I did not have any other option and no time to react, hence it was unavoidable...
Therefore, despite the outcome, it was not my fault that I hit him unfairly."

I'd run with that.

Its easy to tell that he is partway through the bumping motion before Kane starts swinging Hayes. His intention was to bump him, but not to his head.

Rough Edges - youve contradicted yourself the entire time. If Shaun hurt Hayes collarbone with the bump then there wouldnt even be a report. Make up your mind.

Personally i dont think Shaun shouldn't have got anything but a reprimand, but going on previous incidents in the year ie. Johnson id say they would have had to give him something otherwise they would be seen as inconsistent. Although, i think if the conditions would have been better, he would have been able to pull out much quicker and avoid Lenny's head altogether and there wouldn't have been an issue. Shaun is not a dirty player he doesn't go in to hurt anyone intentionally. Despite what my user name reads he's my favourite player and i wish things were different cause i put money on him for the brownlow but head contact was made and they are very strict on it this year i just hope they can keep it consistant because thats the one thing that annoys me about the tribunal. If they make a decision like this that fine but they have to be consistent!!!!

It was certainly reckless, but two weeks is a bit harsh - I think they should go to the tribunal and argue that he slipped because of the terrible conditions, still probably get a week, but they should be able to get it reduced.

Win a game(hopefully before the year is out) before you open your trap. You give Dees supporters a bad name.
By the way player was lucky to only recieve two, all players at the beginning of the year were warned that head high bumps accidental or not would recieve punishment get over it.
God forbid someone has you as their umpire you would most likely wait until someone has their neck broken before paying a free kick.
