Shaw open to move - GWS the nominated club of choice post #1927

If it's Sidebottom then they don't get anything else, the kid might be a 200cm 100kg monster that moves like Jagger and kicks like McKenna but he barely made it through the TAC cup grand final because he's been injured.. having said that he kicked 4 goals on no preparation o_O

Back on topic. If Adams ends up staying at GWS because of the Buddy move to Sydney then Shaw MUST not be traded unless a deal can be reached that benefits the club. I do not want to see him let go for an average trade because we have placed his behaviour in the too hard basket.

I don't pretend to be up on the players available in the draft. I'll leave that to NM. If we can get a pick inside the top 10 that enables us to recruit a player with the potential to achieve what Shaw has then I will be satisfied.

Weak draft for key positions, Jaksch is 195cm, homesick and highly touted.. would be miles ahead of the best we could get in the draft (McCarthy 195cm new to the game and will take 4 years at least) and we can still get a Harvey 195cm (Nephew of Matt Rendell) or Conlon 197cm (Top 5 before injury) in the 2nd round as well

Lol, Hine said just yesterday we weren't going for Boyd and people are still trying to conjure up a trade for him.

He actually never said that at all, below is a summation of his interview I wrote it while listening to it to make sure it is accurate.

Beams and Brown wont get traded and signed on, absolutely 100% required players.

Waiting to see on Dale have put a final offer to him, unsure of compo if he leaves but going off Saints/Goddard last year pick 11 seems right.

Have free'd up a percentage of our cap space to go after potential RFA's, FA and trades regardless of Daisy's deal.

Shaw has interest from several clubs named Melb & GWS, looking at best deal for both parties.

Not worried about loss of experience as most the players gone didn't play a lot of games in 13 anyway, mindful of age profile and the need for AFL ready types.

Young, Lynch and Russell were needs picks, young injured, Lynch cooked himself in pre season and Russell unfortunately didn't work out. Happy with our trades and draft choices last year.

Interested in White but no official commitment has been made from either party, had a promising 2nd half of season and at 25 he is coming on, wont affect Reid
per se but will give the team great flexibility.

Interested in Adams but we are 1 of 10 melb clubs to meet with him, not sure if Taylor wants to come but we want him.

Wants to keep low picks and trade out of later rounds due to a shallow draft, very keen on 2015 draft which appears much stronger and deeper.

Only going to have 38 on senior list in preparation for 2015 draft, also allows rookies to be upgraded without injury giving them more to strive for.

On Adams said if he was to come in he understands he is a former pick 13 and is certainly performing up to the standard of a 1st round pick not silly about what we do and are trying to put a fair value on him.

At no point was Boyd mentioned or pick 1.

I don't think we are that light on for KPPs. Cloke, Reid, Brown, Keefe, Frost, Witts, Grundy, Lynch.

Better of trading for players like Adams or drafting high quality mids. Preferably a few tough insiders.

You arent apart of Collingwood or Gws, you dont have a clue if we have a chance or not

Would love to be wrong but Shaw and pick 10 will not get us pick 1 we struggle to land these big trades

Everyone struggles to land these big trades. For the most part, big fish just don't move clubs. Pick #1 isn't much different.

Harry - Sidebottom - Shaw

All expendable, especially when it comes to possibly using them as bait to land high picks off certain clubs, whether or not that's as a package or individually is a different story.

But we can not rip our squad apart for 1 player

How do Harry and Sidebottom get thrown into this equation. High draft picks, whilst promising, are also unknown at AFL level. Ever heard of Jack Watts?

Called taking a risk, I don't know about you - but im not content for my club to sit on its hands when I doubt that without aggressive and risky trading/drafting that we have much chance of winning a flag over the next 5-10 years.

Am I the only one that doesn't want Sidebottom, Shaw and DT to go.....I'd even like to keep Harry-O as much as he pisses me off as a person.

I don't understand why we would want to offload Steel. In his junior years he was rated elite for his disposal, something that he struggled with this year but so did the rest of the team.

Looking at our team stats over the last 4 years, our Disposal Efficiency hasnt changed much but our 1% have gone from being #1 ranked in 2010 to slowly fall away over the next 4 years to #8. Contested Possessions have gone from ranked #1 in 2010 to #11 this year and Clearances ranked #6 in 2010 to fall away to #15 this year.

Seems that the loss of Ball and Beams really hurts us like we know but maybe our game plan needs work.

I definitely don't want to let Steele go, he is all class.

Shaw I want out. Cash in on him while we still can and are in pole position to do so.

Harry I'm fed up with too because he has forgotten his job description. He has totally lost the plot moreso than Shaw IMO.

Daisy I'd like to retain but that is out of our hands.

All in all it's good to see the club is positioning itself accordingly to strike while the iron is hot and be daring. The list requires a shake up. We can't keep going down the same path with what we have. Maybe with some of what we have but not with all of what we have.
