Sheffield Shield Round 6: VIC v TAS @ MCG

Bugger this rain

I was planning to wander down to the G this morning to watch my Tigers in action. It's certainly not the "golden generation" team that I've enjoyed watching over the last couple of seasons, but that was the appeal of it in some ways.

Hopefully there's still a fair bit of cricket to be played on Friday afternoon and/or Saturday I guess.

Jake Doran has been a big disappointment so far. Still young but clearly isn't up to it (at least not).

Certainly isn't worth the hype just yet, especially when you have Heazlett and Renshaw doing so well up in Queensland whilst being the same age. But still i'm sure he is hyped up for a reason (other than the fact he's from NSW).

From all the hype I was expecting him to come in and hit the ground running immediately.

I remember this article by Stuey Magill saying he should have made his debut during the Ashes last year.

Can't even buy a run in Shield Cricket atm.

The gap between junior under age cricket and senior cricket is absolutely massive at every level of cricket - I think it will be a long time before we see another Ponting or Clarke - the system is not set up for it anymore.

Harper streets ahead of Ayre with the gloves, batting impressive also. been out with illness and injury but certainly deserves his opportunity

nobbyiscool being a Tigers fan can you enlighten us on Ben McDermott, assuming son of Craig and brother of Alistair.

Playing his role at 6 and involved in a good partnership with Beau Webster, good to hear he was amongst the runs as well.

Nah, I couldn't tell you much - this is the first Shield game he's played for the Tigers. You're right though - McDermott is of the same family as Craig and Alistair and was a recruit down there for this season. One of the 3 wicket keepers we picked up during the offseason...

Dean
Quiney
Stoinis
Handscomb
White
Christian/Holland
Harper (+)
Pattinson
Siddle
Tremain
Ahmed

That's what is likely to happen, I don't see the point of playing all three of Christian, Holland and Stoinis. Surprised Harper got the promotion ahead of Ayre honestly.

Would have liked to include Short to bat at 6 and bowl offies though as a change up from the military mediums Christian and Stoinis deliver.

Enter the Bear. Remember the bloke who played for Australia as a LEggie?
