How shit is our tail? You've got Wright & Mckay making half centuries for Victoria in this match, Geeves made 99 for Tassie, Noffke & Swan make runs for QLD yet I can't recall one of our tailenders making an impact - apart from Dizzy of course but I'd really like a few more runs every now and then from Cullen, Tait, Rofe, George etc

Cricket Australia’s National Selection Panel (NSP) today announced two changes to the 13-man squad for the next two Commonwealth Bank Series matches against New Zealand.

Australia’s next two matches against New Zealand are at the MCG on Friday and the SCG on Sunday. New Zealand currently leads the series 1-0.

The Commonwealth Bank Series squad is:

M. Clarke (c) NSW
M. Hussey (vc) WA
N. Bracken NSW
C. Ferguson SA
B. Haddin NSW
B. Hilfenhaus TAS
J. Hopes QLD
D. Hussey VIC
M. Johnson WA
S. Tait SA
D. Warner NSW
C. White VIC
A. Voges WA

Commenting on the selection of the squads, NSP Chairman Andrew Hilditch said:

“The National Selection Panel has selected a squad of 13 players for the next two Commonwealth Bank Series games. There are two changes to the squad. Shaun Marsh has been ruled out with a hamstring injury and, consistent with Cricket Australia’s policy on managing player workload, Ricky Ponting has not been named in this squad.

“Naturally, as Australian captain, Ricky is keen to play every game and these next two games were no exception. However, it was always planned that Ricky would have a break at this time. While this is a difficult decision for the NSP, given the current performance of the team, in our view it is essential that Ricky has an opportunity to prepare for the forthcoming South Africa tour given his immense workload since the start of the India tour in late September last year.

“Adam Voges and Callum Ferguson are additions to the squad. Both Adam and Callum are having very strong Ford Ranger Cup seasons. While it is a difficult time for the side it is very important that we continue to show faith and support this young side as we rebuild.

“We believe that this group can get the job done against New Zealand. Adam Voges has been recalled after limited opportunities in the past and Callum Ferguson has been added for the first time to an Australian squad. Both are exciting young players with the attitude and talent to succeed at this level.”

Drop Cullen and bring in Bailey

would get the same treatment but can bat

Not sure if you were serious Cap but i agree, Dan has lost his way with the ball, Bailey is a handy bat and couldn't do much worse with the ball.
Be nice if Cleary could get some runs, Weeks probably won't come up for the next game, do you think it could be worth giving young Richardson a game with the season gone?

what's the difference with this season and the last 5????..look at our position..
its frustrating watching all the "Imports and overseas stars" and realise the cost we can't even buy a winning team.:eek:

A wonderful, hard-fought win for the Vics despite being drastically undermanned.

Full credit to SA too, showed a stack of fight and almost pitched it.

Ferguson deserves to be MOTM, whilst it's also great to see Bryce McGain not only take a bag, but also bowl a bunch of overs.

So where does that win leave the table? We'd be something like 12 points clear of Queensland and 16 clear of NSW and WA, is that right?

Bad luck SA you really deserved more after such a great knock from Ferguson. just not enough support, especially Christian who is meant to be handy with the bat.

SA has a habit of offering hope and then collapsing. Still thats more interesting than watching AUS for the last 10 yrs

predict SA will lose by 20 runs

Spot on mate. Now who's gonna win the Sheild final and by how much? and also can ya tell me the first 4 in order at Randwick this week?

Cannot see why Ferguson didn't get it. He nearly wins them the game while Manou was in the pavilion watching.

Just got home from the MCG.

What a fantastic game of cricket. You have to give both sides credit for the game to come down to the last 27 balls.

Well done to the Ferg on a great match and Australian selection.

Victoria now pretty much has a spot in the final and probably one more outright win will get them a home final in the final 3 games.

Great game all round. SA have definitely improved in some parts of their play, yet still seem to be falling short.

Good to see McGain grabbing 5 wickets on the final day.
