A crucial battle for a spot in the final. While a outright win wouldn't automatically guarantee the Blues of a finals spot, it would make the chasing teams' job incredibly difficult. The Blues' confidence will be sky-high after their rout of the Vics, while the Warriors came through a relatively low-scoring game with a determined chase of a tricky total.

Last game
  • New South Wales 9/452 dec. (Nevill 100*, Patterson 94, Henry 92) defeated Victoria 218 (Abbott 3/44, Copeland 3/50) and 186 (Copeland 3/24) by an innings and 48 runs @ Sydney Cricket Ground.
  • Western Australia 279 (North 87, Whiteman 55) and 5/259 (North 79, Voges 75) defeated Tasmania 248 (Hogan 4/55, Coulter-Nile 3/60) and 286 (M.Marsh 4/35, Duffield 3/67) by 4 wickets @ WACA

Western Australia XII squad
  • 32. Adam VOGES (c)
  • 18. Ashton AGAR
  • 4. Cameron BANCROFT
  • 19. Michael BEER
  • 5. Jason BEHRENDORFF
  • 41. Ryan DUFFIELD
  • 14. Marcus HARRIS
  • Michael HOGAN
  • 10. Mitch MARSH
  • 26. Marcus NORTH
  • 17. Ashton TURNER
  • 9. Sam WHITEMAN (+)
In: Agar, Behrendorff
Out: Nathan COULTER-NILE (hamstring)

A big blow for the Warriors as Coulter-Nile fails to recover from the 2nd innings injury suffered while bowling. Although Agar returns from suspension he is likely to play alongside Beer, meaning Behrendorff will earn a recall after an unlucky omission in the Tassie game.

New South Wales XII squad
  • 20. Peter NEVILL (c)(+)
  • 77. Sean ABBOTT
  • 4. Doug BOLLINGER
  • 1. Ryan CARTERS
  • 9. Trent COPELAND
  • 8. Josh HAZLEWOOD
  • 10. Scott HENRY
  • 53. Nic MADDINSON
  • Kurtis PATTERSON
  • 99. Ben ROHRER
  • Gurinder SANDHU
  • Manjot SINGH
In: Sandhu, Singh
Out: Steve O'KEEFE (shoulder)

O'Keefe continues to struggle with the shoulder injury suffered during BBL|03. Although he batted at 11 in NSW's only innings, he did manage to bowl in the Vics' 2nd innings and contribute two vital wickets. However he is being rested for the flight across the Nullabor meaning off-spinner Singh should earn his 2nd cap for his state. He will have big shoes to fill for SOK is the equal leading wicket taker in the Shield this year (27 same as Hogan)

Can't believe Beer plays for a team with the slogan, 'Alcohol: Think Again.
LOL! Oh the irony!

Maddinson another failure. Maybe too early to say but he is not living up to his potential atm and may never live up to it.

Don't get why he is opening- he is a natural 3/4, he isn't and never will be a first class opener.

Yeah agree with this. If he is being groomed for Australia as an opener then he will have to compete against Warner for the "dashing opener" spot. I think the selectors want a Rogers/Cowan/Silk type of opener to go alongside Warner in tests.

4/5 would be perfect for him imo. He can play his strokes down the order against an older ball and shouldn't be exposed against the swing and seam early on.

Actually would like him in Rohrer's spot at Shield level. NSW have a ton of openers, I just don't get it. Honestly long term we will have a top 3 of Silk, Warner and Handscomb (yes going out on a limb on Handscomb). Warner I feel is your perfect 4/5 at test level. He struggles when the ball is brand new as he takes an over or two to move his feet.

Bit off topic, but never understood why for example a guy like Turner would bat ahead of Agar, who has scored a test match 99 and made runs at Shield level, and given Turner is relatively new.

Honestly? Agar is a bowler who can bat a bit, Turner is a batsman who can bowl a bit. That is probably the reason.

Has Turner made 99 in a test?

Have many State players? Should Dizzy open the batting then? You bat your batsmen in the top 6- Turner is that!

Turner is a much better batsman than Agar. So are Cameron Bancroft and Sam Whiteman- neither who have scored first class centuries.

Exactly! Agar at this stage is a genuine number 8 bat.

Yeah strange move after he was relatively successful down the order in the back end of last season. Perhaps it was to give Scott Henry a chance at 3 but he's struggled as well

Just seems a stupid decision, not a strange one. You are screwing one of your best talents to suit Henry who is at best a State player...at best.
