I don't know how anybody can our planning sucks, when you can even say what it was. It is pure supposition here.

No shit sherlock - 99% of this entire forum is supposition because none of us a truly inside.

Never said what i think our plan was, but i think it was to offload someone like ellis or the like up there. Plan b was to trade someone for seconds which we could then upgrade. Club (and most on this board) however massively overestimated the interest clubs would have in our players

if we "planned" it, why hadn't he spoken to us before we went overseas? why did he just buy a house in Geelong? why did he have zero thought of even leaving Geelong?

planning means preparing for something BEFORE it happens. he didn't even speak to Caddy before Lids nominated Geelong, and even then we nominated other players first
Planning can also mean isolating players we would like to approach from other clubs if that club is ameniable, not just players who we have ie Prestia.

You mean the ones who we dont contact, reach out to their manager, check their interest even if only indicative?

You have a short time to do these deals during trade week, much of your time meeting clubs. Why wouldnt you contact players you have interest in?

If it is no shit sherlock stuff, then how can you possibly our planning was bad, if you don't know what it was? That sounds exactly like your saying you know what it was and it was bad.

But this is the point, how do you know we hadn't, and the fact try being planned for all 18 clubs? This is exactly what Balme was talking about. Isolate a few needs from all clubs, and plan around those. My general point, unless we are in the room, we simply cant tell if we truly are not planning properly.

Im saying what i thibk and believe, just like you are. Unless something has changed, people are allowed more than one opinion and belief here.

Im disagreeing with people, but im not saying they have no right to disagree unlike you

I know because he said it on radio. Changing clubs wasnt on his radar until the deledio deal. He said he just bought a new house and was overseas, hardly the actions of a guy seriously thinking hes leaving geelong

Anyway we are foing in circles here, and ive answered this about eight times now, so lets leave it there

I don't have a problem with the club identifying its strategic priorities, and then changing tactics as the trade period evolved.
The trade period is becoming more fluid each year and going in with a narrow set of goals defined by particular trades is setting the club up for failure.

I too feel the senile-git should have been sacked the next day, when he came out with that garbage quote about the members demanding mediocrity.

I understand that, but I just disagree with your assertion, and not that you have a right of opinion, not sure where you get that. I am challenging your conclusion.
