Following an extensive review, Richmond and the AFL have decided to move the two AFLW home games at the Swinburne Centre to Ikon Park, due to capacity limitations.

The Club’s priority has always been for as many members and supporters to have the opportunity to watch Richmond’s inaugural AFLW team compete, and enjoy their match day experience.

With this in mind, the Club will now play its Round 3 match v North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos and Round 7 game v Brisbane Lions at Ikon Park.

Richmond CEO, Brendon Gale said the fans’ enjoyment and safety during games at Punt Road underpinned the Club’s decision making.

The Club is committed to continuing to work with the AFL, government and council, to address current crowd capacity issues, and will endeavour to host AFLW games at the Swinburne Centre in future seasons.

People are going to queuing up for miles to get into this absolute masterpiece what a ground!:)

The capacity for the venue will increase to 8000 spectators, up from its current capacity of 3000.

The redevelopment is good news for the club's AFLW team, with the increased venue capacity meaning more spectators for home games, with new facilities built especially for the Tigers' female players.

8,000? LOL. Faarking minnows.

Begging to upgrade an AFLW venue, it's the epitome of embarassing. If the Govt. had any sense they'd dump a whole load of chicken sh*t at that pathetic paddock for old times' sake and call it a day. PHWOOOAR!

Very happy for Geelong to get all the help they need.

It's sad they're spending it on a kidney shaped playground, I know Geelong FC is a basket case club that cannot succeed without all kinds of league and govt assistance, but I'd prefer the City of Geelong gets the injecting rooms, rehab and employment opportunities it needs.

It's a shame Spring Street has focused so much on Melbourne. If the regions got some sensible support they could pay their way, instead of limping along on welfare and even lift their club past their paltry 10 flags in 170 years.

It's a very proud and ancient club and it's a shame to see them struggling like this. Two of their last 4 flags came from Dank FFS, how bad is that?

That's the government's response for Richmond asking for yet more handouts after Punt Road was deemed unsuitable for AFLW matches.

Geelong and finances 🤣 Please sit down Geelong are a minnow club. What dumbass decided to updated your stadium and still make it have f all seats?

Maybe they are just trying to keep the home ground advantage which is the only reason you have won any flags. Honestly, the AFL would be better off if Geelong merged with the upcoming tassie team.

Most successful Victorian club this century, only Victorian club with its own home ground - none of that home-sharing minnow business.

There are two tiers when it comes to football clubs in our great state:
Tier 1: Geelong
Tier 2: The nine Melbourne clubs sharing two grounds

Feel free to debate where in tier 2 your minnow rabble sit with the other vermin, but just know where you rank in the grand scheme of things.
