Should North Melbourne play as a curtain raiser to the E.J Whitten Legends game ?

We don't fear the Saints. At all.

But if they somehow manage to fluke a win it would put North's slender one round hold on 8th position in serious jeopardy while boosting their own finals chances... so it won't all be bad news.

No biggie.

We'll just take the spot back when we roll you pack of pretenders in round 20.

Should concentrate on the small fish first, like Melbourne. :p

You'd know all about that...

And my favourite of all... the loss to the "pack of pretenders" after all the pre-season huff and puff:

Fancy getting done by a side that lost to... MELBOURNE. lolz

Dude...you lost to Melbourne. For 3 straight years now.

It's doing them a world of good down in 16th as well.

All that loss has done is cost us top spot... for the moment.

I'd much rather be the Demons sitting down in cosy 16th on 2-11 than sitting in the top 4 with a massive chance of playing finals on 10-3. Definitely. Hope it keeps them warm at night... much like North's "birthday win" last year against a then mediocre Essendon outfit in the middle of a losing streak, yet is still treated like the best H&A win this millennium. Time to raise the bar from 9th.

North have beaten Essendon quite a bit over the last decade, not sure where you're getting a "win of the millenium" from. As a matter of fact it seemed like the Essendon supporters are the ones that cared about the match so much. 300 posts in the vent thread and a certain birthday boy going off his kettle.

And over 12 months on the losing side that day is sitting in top 4 and very much in the calculations to be there at the end of the year... while the other one is still just batting it out for 8th spot after two years of 9th.

It's been a rosy decade for North in terms of Essendon but 3-2 in the last five in favour of EFC and a very underwhelming/mediocre record overall speaks volumes - 51 wins in 147 attempts (34%) - did I say mediocre? I meant piss poor...

2000 grand final was rubbish, and Melbourne 2000 were the weakest grand final opponent in AFL history.

It's a pity the legendary North side of the 90's didn't roll melbourne in the prelim that year and go in to the final as it's swan song..

Pagan had a plan to beat up on the scum in the 2000 granny. Melbourne should have followed a similiar path.

Denis was admittedly a good coach but to overturn a 31.12.198 to 11.7.73 defeat in the space of 4 weeks? LOL.

Not to mention the home & away game earlier in the season when North didn't even record ONE inside 50 in the first quarter and trailed by 8 goals at the first change and got pummelled.

The "Kangaroos" had their best chance of revenge the following season when they led 15.1 to 3.4 - but unfortunately still couldn't win...

16 > 4. Thanks for coming. And thanks, Hamish.

:thumbsu: more flags than us, i commend you on your hard statistical research.

still doesnt answer how a "top4" aspirant can lose to arguably the worst side in the comp minus expansion teams

Did you even read my post?

essedon were the most talented side of 2000 no doubt, and the team of the 90's was well and truly on it's way out, but essedons historical softness was still a factor and it would have been good to see it tested on the big stage.

From what I have heard, North had plans to get medieval on the scum in the 2000 final. It's a pity it never worked out that way.

What did you expect from a certified moron?

Crap like 16>>>>>4 is about as intellectual as he gets.

It's all opposition supporters have this year when it comes to material on Essendon... "Oh you lost to Melbourne!", even their own supporters don't give as much shit about it as North.

Just ask Carlton how they went in 1995 after they lost to wooden spooner St Kilda & bottom 4 bound Sydney in the space of two weeks.

Or even North in 1997 when they made the Preliminary Final but still found a way to lose to wooden spooners Melbourne on the way...

Upsets happen. Shit happens. I'll take 10-3 and three narrow losses anyday of the week, thanks.

Far out... you've spoken some shit over time but this is the biggest dump ever. LOL.

North were a team in decline in 2000, as evidenced by losing to near wooden spooner Collingwood in the last couple of home & away rounds. They were routinely smashed, physically and on the scoreboard, in the Qualifying Final and then got pummelled by Melbourne in the Preliminary Final... who were then humiliated in the GF. A great day.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Oh wait... you had Mick Martyn & the most overrated player to EVER play AFL, Glenn Archer. My bad!

Would of been CARNAGE - physically and on the scoreboard.
