Security!

btw Dinga, when I said I was looking forward to noise from you, I meant as part of some top quality crowd chants. We need noise that everyone can join in on, not ranting from individuals that offends fellow supporters. Especially if opposition supporters are going to be brewing trouble, we really need to stand together - men and women and kids, all ages, straight and gay, drunk and sober, prudish and rough as guts, all hearts to hearts and hands to hands.

How about a chant something like

Hearts to hearts and hands to hands,
Feel our support from the stands,
Work hard Roos get stuck right in,
Make North Melbourne Win Win Win!

Thoughts?

Weeee arrrrre thhhhe bluuuuue and whiiiiite
we don't stop, day or night
we'll charge through walls, fight fight fight
we love our team, the blue and white
come on North, fight fight fight

The KISS philosophy

Forget about the chanting. As long as we are waving our Flappers and Dongers we should we right. :stern look

Weeee arrrrre thhhhe bluuuuue and whiiiiite
we don't stop, day or night
we'll charge through walls, fight fight fight
we love our team, the blue and white
come on North, fight fight fight

D'oh! and I spent hours on it:eek:

When I was a young boy, I wore my badge
And I lived the life of a shinboner
From the Court House Hotel, to the Kensington Flats
The Roos shined out like a corona

Then in 1969, my father said son

It's time to stop dribbling, there's barracking to be done
Then he gave me a beanie and he gave me a scarf
And he marched me on down Arden Street

And the band played Wee Doch and Doris

As we milled round the Fogarty Street Gates
And we proudly lined up in the colors
Me, my old man. and his mates.

I'll get around to the other 15 verses later.

Yeah I spose. But if everyone catches on to some of the chants ive brought up and everyone elses chants then as soon as the fist line or word is said everyone will join in. like in the soccer, cricket or anythin they drag the first word out and everyone joins in
eg
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6KKZKH4WFc

would be good to see a squad with form like that
love it hahah

If anyone has any constructive criticism for the cheer squad or any chant ideas, please inbox me by Sunday night and i will take them to the committee.
thanks

I'm not privy to your inbox, but it looks like the criticism flows a lot faster than the suggestions. It's all too easy to knock the clap clap clap chant, but we as a board, with all the sharp wit and humour in the world, haven't come up with much for you to run with.

A thread about a f##### throw away line by s**tstain Carro will attract posters like moths to a light but when we can actually make a difference, it all seems too hard.

We've got til tonight to collate at least a few things for gibbo to present to the committee.

My 2 cents:
We need to use BF and Facebook to involve more people with things like chant lyrics, objectives, competitions for chants. etc. etc.
Provide leaflets of the chants to hand out amongst the new North End Crew. Post lyrics on Facebook gameday.
Come up with an identity for the North End Crew.
Get a full house down there!!!

I will provide a summary of the chants suggested in the preceding posts. Can everyone provide some feed back, suggestions etc.

To the Adams Family Tune
Da da, Da da, Da da da
Da da da da da, Da da da
Da da, Da da, Da da da
The Adams named Leigh

Repeat

There's only one Lachie Hansen one.

Don't you want Jack Ziebell to love
Don't you need Jack Ziebell to love
Wouldn't you love Jack Ziebell to love
Lucky we found Jack Ziebell to love

To the Jimmy Anderson song by the Barmy Army:

Ooooh, Benny Benny.
Benny, Benny, Benny, Benny Cunnington
rpt

Here we go:

Weeeee are North, we are North, we are North,
we are North, we are North, we are Noorth,
we are North, we are North, we are North,
We are North, NORTH MELBOURNE
rpt

We all follow North Melbourne

We all follow North Melbourne,
Over land and sea.
We all follow North Melbourne.
On to victory, (all together now)

Perhaps an even easier/catchier one might be, to the tune of GG's Rock'n'Roll (part 2)

Kangaroo-oo-oo-oos.... HEY!
Kangaroos.
Kangaroo-oo-oo-oos.... HEY!
Kangaroos.
Kangaroo-oo-oo-oos.... HEY!
Kangaroos. Kangaroooos.

He's big, his tall,
The greatest of them all,
Big H, Big H

A champ, a gun,
He wears the number 1
Big H, Big H

Okay so this lyric is set to the All American Rejects' song "Gives You Hell".

Did you catch his pace
He's Daniel Wells, he's Daniel Wells
All you do is chase
On Daniel Wells, our Daniel Wells

There's not a man
Who's worth a damn
Next to Daniel Wells

You look like fools
Hope he gives you hell
He's Daniel Wells

When you hear this song
I hope that it will give you hell
You can sing along
You've just been owned by Daniel Wells

some more, can posters pick two or three that they think have some potential.

Chants:

"We are blue!
we are white!
we are ****ing dynamite!"

"We're Kangas till we die!
We're Kangas till we die!
We're blue and white!
The 'Team' are shite!
We're Kangas till we die!"

"Chim chimmeny chim chimmeny chim chim charoo!
We are shinboners! We wear white and blue!"

"You'll never get away from Swallow! we said no! no! no!"

"We all call him patchy
hes not very flashy
the toughest in the game
Leigh Adams is his name"
de de dede! *clap clap*

Hearts to hearts and hands to hands,
Feel our support from the stands,
Work hard Roos get stuck right in,
Make North Melbourne Win Win Win!

Weeee arrrrre thhhhe bluuuuue and whiiiiite

We could make a ballad our own in a similar vein to never walk alone. The perfect song is out there, one that sums up the spirit of the club, is known by all and is a real belter of a song that needs the big stage.
Just getting this one song right would do wonders. Anyone got anything?

"Hollywood Nights" by Bob Seger

There's plenty to work with here for LA's own tune:...

Night after night, day after day, it went on and on
Then came that morning he woke up alone
He spent all night staring down at the lights of la
Wondering if he could ever go home

And those hollywood nights
In those hollywood hills
It was looking so right
It was giving him chills
In those big city nights
In those high rolling hills
Above all the lights
With a passion that kills

In those hollywood nights
In those hollywood hills
She was looking so right
In her diamonds and frills
All those big city nights
In those high rolling hills
Above all the lights
She had all of the skills

Sums up the spirit somewhat wouldn't you say?....Change a few words to suit and we could have a true uniter of a song.

I Wont Back Down Lyrics
Artist: Tom Petty

Well I won't back down
No I won't back down
You can stand me up at the gates of hell
But I won't back down

No I'll stand my ground, won't be turned around
And I'll keep this world from draggin me down
gonna stand my ground
... and I won't back down

Chorus:
(I won't back down...)
Hey baby, there ain't no easy way out
(and I won't back down...)
hey I will stand my ground
and I won't back down

Well I know what's right, I got just one life
in a world that keeps on pushin me around
but I'll stand my ground
...and I won't back down

(I won't back down...)
Hey baby, there ain't no easy way out
(and I won't back down...)
hey I will stand my ground
(I won't back down)
and I won't back down...

(I won't back down...)
Hey baby, there ain't no easy way out
(I won't back down)
hey I won't back down
(and I won't back down)
hey baby, there ain't no easy way out
(and I won't back down)
hey I will stand my ground
(and I won't back down)
and I won't back down
(I won't back down)
No I won't back down...

Note: these aren't the true classic ballad-type I referred to earlier. These are the fillers, when 'the chosen one' comes along, we will know it.

Having fun here tonight Ohhh Errol? :head bobbing to the music face. This is like watching "Rage" with subtitles and the sound turned off. I like your enthusiasm anyhow. People have already posted songs so I'd say, by doing so, they've voted already.

The Cheer Squad will have to make up their own minds. There's plenty of options on this page alone. As for the rest of us, we have a fortnight before a tune or chant's needed.

I am actually 'Toes thanks, lol

Check this one:*

Killing in the name of.
Some of those that work forces, are the same that played fo' us.
Some of those that work forces, are the same that played fo' us.
Some of those that work forces, are the same that played fo' us.
Some of those that work forces, are the same that played fo' us.

It ends with the head cheersquad member holding up a massive picket with the big guys face billed across it, with 10,000 North fans jumping in unison and screaming the last verse of that riot inciting beauty from Rage.

*obvious joke this one.

Never heard of this song b4 snrub .......very catchy it could work.

The Norgies over are very big on rechanging the lyrics of songs to suit for different needs or occasions...... maybe some of our musically gifted friends here on big footy can churn out a few then post them on site and on here and FB

OK when were comfortably in the lead, we start with "Love is in the air" John Paul Young. And when we've put the last nail in their coffin, we belt out The Righteous Brothers "You've lost that loving feeling"....now it's gone, gone, gonnnnnnee.

Just browsing at wiki: here

Here's one I was singing to my blues supporting cousin as we left the stadium last year...

Who's that team they call the North Melbourne,
Who's that team we all adore,
We're the boys in blue and white and we fight with all our might,
And we're out to show the Blues the way to score!

You can listen to the Chelsea version here for the rhythm.

There's plenty more on fanchants.com, a lot of teams sing the same one (eg "<club name> till I die")

Every good cheer squad needs to have a sense of humour, this one kills two birds with one stone by pumping up LT's tyres and taking a bit of the mickey while we're at it....

He's a Really Useful Engine
(composed by Mike O'Donnell & Junior Cambell)
Britt Allcrot Inc.

He's a really useful engine, you know
All the other engines they'll tell you so
He huffs and puffs and whistles
Rushing to and fro
He's the really useful engine we adore

Chorus:
He's the one, he's the one
He's the really useful engine that we adore
He's the one, he's the number one
Thomas the Tank Engine

He's a really useful engine, you know
'Cause the Fat Controller, he told him so
Now he's got a branch line
To call his very own
He's the really useful engine we adore

I think I might have found a ballad to work with....

I call it "I still call North Mel-Bourne home..."

I've been to cities that never close down,
From Sydney to GC and old Canberra town,
But no matter how far or how wide I roam,
I still call North Melbourne, I still call North Melbourne
I still call North Mel-bourne HOOOOMMMMMME.
