Sid Draper vs Mattaes Phillipou

Being two of the better SA mids in the last couple of years, how would these two compare against each other at the same time?
I think Phillipou is the better one, but with talk about how this draft is a super draft, am I right that alot of people have Draper higher?

I would say it's a super draft because of its depth, not because of its top end talent

We still have no idea where Pou's ceiling is. He was struggling big time this year before going back to the VFL to work on his game and then averaged 22.5 disposals, 6.5 tackles, 4.3 clearances and a goal a game over his last 4 matches. Looking forward to seeing what he can do with renewed confidence and another pre season.

Draper is class personified and I'm probably taking him over Pou but could be totally wrong. Always been a massive Pou fan.

Such different players it's hard to compare. Pou has more potential match winner about him and Draper is closer to the finished product.
As it stands l would not swap Pou for Draper right now so that answers that, but I'd love to get him in this year.

Pou is such a unique talent has only scratched the surface of what he could become his upside is ludicrous.

That's what is so scary and exciting about him.

I'm sure Draper will be a stud. But as much as I hate it if Port and Adelaide are not already in Pou's managements ear already they have rocks in there heads

Draper is in the conversation as the best SA prospect of the modern era and would be in the #1 pick discussion if he was born in Melbourne.

I like Phillipou, but he was nowhere close to the likes of Gibbs/JHF/Draper in their draft years.

Pou was the youngest player from his draft class. He’s 12-13 months older than Jagga Smith despite going two years earlier. If his last month of footy is anything to go by then the sky is the limit. Draper no doubt looks like a sure bet but does he have the POD that Pou possesses.

You don't rate Pou at all? You may need to be prepared to be surprised. Towards the end of the season he had some explosive midfield games.

Geelong definitely should have taken him ahead of Clark.

There's only one way to settle this, Draper should go to Saints so we can actually compare. Phillipou has been playing for a poor side so as a young kid he's bound to have some poor performances too. Been watching SA draftees for ages, I'd personally have JHF way above any other SA draftee in modern era. Rozee would be a distant 2nd and Phillipou and Draper are tied.

This draft's top end talent isn't as early as other drafts. It's great and deep, not elite and deep. There's no JHF, Daicos, Darcy, Reid even Walsh and Rowell right at the top end. The reason why no one can pick out a #1 pick is because all prospects have had a bit of inconsistency throughout the year but have had some brilliant outings. Draper perhaps the most consistent, which is why he's in discussions as the best prospect but otherwise, his ceiling is lower but floor is higher. Phillipou's ceiling is at another level if he plays at a club with an aggressive gameplan and good development.
