Couldnt see this up anywhere.

Looks pretty solid now that Skipworth will be picked up by the bombers in the PSD.

When Knights said they would look at an experienced player, the media foolishly thought it was Cousins they were talking about. Obviously it would be Skipworth.

Won the B&F for the Bendigo Bombers, so they have had a good look at him.

At 25, he is in his peak age now...definitely not too old.

The rumour is he has attitude problems at Adelaide. But all a player can do is go and dominate the VFL...which he did. Proves his head is back on the task.

For all the beat up that Essendon should address its midfield...they will ultimately add Prismall, Skipworth and Zaharikis to it...which adds depth to a thin midfield.

This exact scenario has happened the last couple of years... Skipworth has done very well in the VFL since going to play their, has always had a great relationship with the essendon players and for the past few years rumours have continually developed saying that we will pick him up in the PSD.

TBH i dont think its going to happen but it is a possibility. all knights said is that we are open to mature age recruits, it doesnt say we will take one and even if we did take one there are a lot of other options to take. I still keep hearing that we are keen on the 173cm sanfl small forward.

I don't understand why they would want another small forward though - between Monfries, Jetta and Davey they have all the tools to put together a very potent forward line. The midfield is what needs bolstering, and I think Skipworth would be a good inclusion.

I really don't think this is the case. He's just too slow & short for AFL. Always dominated SANFL, but got into the game 10 years too late.

Monfries should be playing midfield next year... was a midfielder as junior and its the right time to move him there.

We don't need one.

We will take Skipworth but he will really only be used as a depth player and continue on with his mentoring role with some of the young guys on the list.

Our midfield is nowhere as thin as is made to be on BF, and while it lacks name players, it has performed well while the injuries have been of a normal number but dropped away when they become ridiculous.

We have 22 players on our 40 man list that are 22 or under and until we get some more games into them, a poor injury run will expose them before they are ready. A player like Skipworth can add some value in that sort of scenario.

I think you've got your wires crossed on that one.

His exceptional personal qualities account for a major reason why we're looking at drafting him. He was in a mentoring role and living with Kyle Reimers, Tayte Pears and David Myers all last season, and if he's to get the opportunity at Essendon, it seems he'll carry on with that position.

Essentially, he'd be a depth player. He can do the hard stuff in the midfield and his skills are reliable, so from that perspective, he's a viable option should we have a few blokes break down.

Basically, he'd save us from throwing a few kids to the wolves should there be injuries whilst at the same time being an outstanding role model for our young guys.

As much as I like to knife the camry's, I cannot on this occasion.

Skipworth was a liked member of their squad, he just wasn't able to convince the coaches there to give him an extended run.

No, I do not believe that Skipworth has ever had any attitude problems

I always liked Skipworth and, as has been said in this thread already, his personality was fine, if a little reserved juring his younger years.

The problem with Skipworth for mine was that he played like he was four inches taller than he was. If you're going to be as short and skinny as Skippy was, you need to have excellent pace, or a real goal sense but he was more like a middle-of-the-road midfielder who was good at most things but very good at none. I always had a lot of time for him but in the end he unfortunately didn't quite have enough strings to his bow.

His biggest failing was that he couldn't kick reliably over 40 metres.

i recall skipworth dominating in a match for adelaide against kangaroos kicking multiple goals. it was really wet from memory, low scoring and skippy got them over the line.

Just for the bomber fans then who would you prefer Skipworth or Cousins.
Skipworth did not have a bad attitude at Adelaide but was a friend of Angwins which didn't help.

If Essendon pick Skipworth, he will be in their first 22 by the end of the year.

Yep, would have been a good player if he'd been around in 93 instead of 2003.

Spent a long time on the Crows list before making his debut, and despite some glimpses never really proved himself as a week in, week out AFL prospect.

Is from all accounts actually an extremely nice person.

For a few games this year he played a defensive forward role often tagging a defender from memory he played on Heath Shaw for a bit. I think he did a good job in this position but he does have the ability to play in the midfield.

Is it just me or if we are going to go an older bloke, shouldn't it be nathan carroll? Apart from 'the being a total tool' thing, I would have thought we would be in a world of hurt if fletch went down. Buy us a couple of years until pears/hurley are up and running.

Skipworth - no thanks, cannot see the value add.

You got rid of Hislop, Lovett is on his last chance, you won't pick up Cousins and you think Carroll is a good idea?
