When addressing the court , Judge Judge must have been thinking of Brent Kopacka as he nearly said his name a few times. He had to correct himself and say Kohberger. Some questions are being asked as to why he would have someone else's name & that appears to have no involvement in this case, on his mind?

Oh did he? Didn't hear him do that but I haven't watched every hearing.

I mean they are sort of similar names.

The trial and all further pre-trial hearings will be moved to Ada County (Boise).

Bryan will be moved there within 30 days.

Makes it a bit tough for everybody attending the pre-trial hearings, I thought they'd just move the trial there like in Vallow/Daybell case.

In America if you have money behind you justice is manipulatable. Moving this trial is something the defence has wanted from the start. It's no suprise that eventually it has happened.

Latest hearing with new Judge Hippler.

Judge stated he doesn't want the trial starting in June due to summer holidays and issues finding jurors.

Proposed either early May or early September and asked both sides which they prefer.

No guesses for who chose what.

No problem for Goncalves family
https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-kaylee-goncalves-family-attend-trial

It's been updated from 50k to 75k and I think they might be taking some pets too & wanting some suggestions on places to eat whilst there.
Maddie's father also has a go fund me & has updated at least once. Not sure about the 3 other victims families if they have one

Yeah I've seen their gofundme - I've also seen reports that people have offered them their AirBNB's for free and the Goncalves' have refused them.

Ethan's family have said from the beginning they won't be attending the trial.

If the Prosecution is able to prove beyond reasonable doubt, then the death penalty surely has to be the only possible sentence. He has shown no remorse and nil admissions.

They also argued Idaho's death penalty laws violate an international treaty banning the torture of prisoners.

What about the emotional trauma inflicted on the families of the four victims?

P.S. Has anyone here (perhaps with a law degree) ever heard about an 'international treaty' banning the torture of prisoners? It's the first I've ever heard of it.

Obviously in Australia that goes without saying, but we don't have capital punishment so the point is mute. I'd have thought for jurisdictions that do have capital punishment, there'd be no such thing as an 'international treaty' banning the (emotional) trauma of prisoners...

Without looking I'd guess it's a UN thing, either Geneva conventions or the charter of human rights.

I've never been so eager for a trial in my life.

Would love to head over for a few days of trial but it'll be like Depp v Heard times 100.
I'm definitely eager too, but also eager for a box office movie being produced based on this case.

Intrigued to see the evidence they have on him, but I guess we wont see it until the trial starts. If he did it he deserves the death penalty
The probable cause affidavit alone is pretty damning. The evidence we know so far from that is:-
  • A vehicle matching his own is on CCTV arriving prior and leaving at high speed immediately after the murders
  • An eye-witness saw someone matching his description in the house and leaving immediately after the murders (and possibly was able to pick his photo out in a lineup)
  • A KA-BAR sheath to the (likely) murder weapon was discovered under one of the victims bodies with single source male DNA identified on the sheath button clip
  • Garbage taken from his parents residence was tested and identified as the biological father of the suspect DNA profile (excluding 99.9998% of the population)
  • A latent shoe-print was found on the scene (unsure if a matching shoe was discovered or was a size match to Kohberger)
  • His phone activity shows the phone was turned off (or put in flight mode) after leaving his residence before the murders and turned back on during his circuitous drive home
  • His phone activity and CCTV footage shows repeated visits to the vicinity of the house prior to the murders
Since the PCA we know his DNA was a match to the suspect DNA profile from the knife sheath. We also know that his 'alibi' was that he was out for an aimless drive and went to a park to view the stars (on a completely overcast night). There was no explanation for the turning off and turning off of his phone during this drive.

The defense has a difficult task to discredit the states evidence IMO. I too am looking forward to watching the trial, but on face value of the evidence so far, there is very little doubt of guilt in my mind.
