A couple of idea TRS
With issues like Clokes goal kicking, Whites brain fades, Witts lack of ferocity etc, sometimes the message is lost when delivered time and time again. The 3 aforementioned physical giants may/could respond favorably should the instruction be delivered in a alternate language. Imagine big Clokey at a presser replying in French or one of the Serbo- Croatian Baltic dialects.

At the first hint of re injury, Elliot, Reid, Sinclair, Brown etc seek an immediate third opinion and put a registered Philippine faith Healer into the Medical team. Honesty, could the outcome be any worse?

It's actually a pretty simple fix.
Get a hypnotherapist around to the club and hypnotise Cloke to believe he is Sav Rocca every time he is taking a set shot.

If that don't work, tell him to aim for the boundary line. Either side of the point posts will do.

There is something in this. Has the club tried alternative therapies? Not a fan myself, but people who are perpetually sick swear by crystals, hot rocks, drinking 6 litres of water a day, humming in dark rooms...the options are endless. As you say, it can't hurt.

I think what we need to do is have Pie fans blowing (no double entendre) in unison from the pockets.

Then it doesn't matter if he hooks or slices it still goes through the middle.

Of course we'd have to change ends each quarter but that's ok as I'm sure the club has someone in charge of logistics.

Or we employ the fish hook method.

Threatening Smally always an option too as has been pointed out.

Crazy Idea #2 The Statue of Liberty Play
1. Centre bounce, the 3 mids line up with a completely defensive mindset (no intent to shark the tap)

2. Our ruckman starts running in as usual albeit slightly later than usual, but does not jump or make contact with the other ruckman.

3. Other ruckman taps the ball down. As our ruckman is in the perfect position to see where the ball is being directed, he runs to that position and takes the ball at height and speed before the mids and clears the ball at pace.

4. If our ruckman doesn't get the clearance, as our mids are aware of the play, they nulify the contest and restart the ball up.

I'm trying to think of something clever to post, as well as crazy, but I cant. So I'll settle for this: the sooner we find somewhere to plonk Mason Cox the better. His tallness is his greatest asset, and we need to exploit it ASAP. His tallness pretty much overcomes his other shortcomings, like a lack of football smarts and nous. His tallness will drive opposition coaches crazy. Just put him out there, somewhere.

There's just no matchup for Mason and the ripple effect his selection would have on the rest of the team's structure is huge. He's also got great hand-eye coordination which means if he doesn't take a mark cleanly he's still able to juggle the ball a few times till he gets both hands on it, well out of reach of whoever is trying to defend him. Get him out there! His selection would also pave the way for my contribution to the thread ...

Play Brodie Grundy as an extra inside midfielder around the ground. It plays to his natural strengths, solves the ruck dilemma, gives us heaps more physicality around the contest and he'd also get plenty of hitouts as the third man up. It's probably not something you'd do all game and I'm not sure if he's fit enough yet but it could definitely give us an extra dynamic - I'm not sure if there's anybody close to his size who'd be able to compete with him at ground level.

Also, Tristan Thompson of the Cleveland Cavaliers successfully switched his shooting hand over the course of an NBA off-season a few years ago so teaching Cloke to kick on his right certainly makes sense. I think we'd still want him kicking on his left whenever he's near the boundary in the left pocket/flank, he's usually pretty good from there.

I think this might be what Grundy has been trying to do recently.

How about instead of Cloke coming off after a shot on goal, he's comes off before taking it. Might be easier to teach Cloke how to fake a cramp/injury, just need to ensure that we have one of our better kicks nearby.
Coaching appointment; Geoffrey Rush?

Might need someone a bit more method... Daniel Day Lewis perhaps.

James Manson likes this, Andrew Bews doesn't.

EDIT: Jasper84 beat me to it!

Cloke looks a lot better when he doesn't think about it, even the checkside kick from the same spot wasn't far off.

Generally best for Travis to avoid thinking too much about stuff full stop.

Inject Cloke with a bit of mongrel so that way when someone is standing in the hole in front of him, he runs through them and they won't stand under the ball in front of him so comfortably the next time - instead of prancing towards the contest and being scared of hurting the opposition player.

There's no need to rush these things VP.
With regard to his football he's like an excitable teenager, (your post reminded me of one too).
He has some things to work on and needs to add to his repertoire.
Bearing in mind, apparently size isn't everything.
