A great GF...well done. Thought you lost the game on Thursday night not selecting Reid. Surprised how good Langdon was this finals series. Lots to look forward to next season.
Yep. Reid should have come in for Aish and played up forward. Move Mihoceck to Kennedy. Goldsack to Darling. Howe could play his third man up role. Unfortunately as we all said beforehand, if our mids stem the flow to Kennedy and Darling we win. They didn't.

I won't lie I was riding the Eagles like they were my own team and the win was sweet.

But that was close to game of the year and certainly the best GF contest since the 80's.

Thanks for putting on a great show. Terrific performance .
Lol.
That's some quality.....uuumm....praise.

Back here this morning feeling down about the loss, but reading the posts has lifted my spirits.

I've always loved the club, but this year I have the greatest admiration for the playing and coaching group.

We finished our season with the game of the year in many respects, and bowed out having won the hearts of so many neutrals.

Bring on 2019. We came pretty damn close this year, and there is much improvement within this group.

Polite question - is that how De Goey has played all year? When it comes off it is spectacular, but when it doesn’t come off, he looks selfish.

Awesome player. I wonder it Bucks will reign him in a little next year?

Respect.

I suspect Bucks will instruct him to go all the harder in relation to the way he plays now

You could level the same "accusation" at a number of players including Dusty and your very own Cyril.
Their Coaches encouraged them, they didn't reign them in

Nah, Reid was a risk, no game time or form, we lost it by going into our shell, not by doing what got us there in the first place.
We had the lead by playing quick footy, but when the game turned, we never got it back to our terms long enough.

Yes, but unfortunately he made the same mistake he always does, kicks across centre in the back half and gets intercepted and costs us a goal. He is not a great kick, as much as he may think he is.
As good as he was on the day, he continually does it and it continually hurts us.
Adams was brilliant and the reason he was down there was because he ran end to end all day. He busted his ass and his errant kick pales into comparison to the poor game of Grundy or the 2 turnovers a week that Howe is guaranteed to cough up by foot within 50 metres of goal.

No, why would you, taking the game on, more of it.
He needs more experience, still in a way young and raw.
Once he knows what can or cannot do, look out when he does.

Thoughts from a discombobulated and sleepless mind:

Emotions have ebbed and flowed since the game, mostly I feel a sense of great pride and gratitude for the privilege of being a Collingwood supporter, particularly during this season. It’s meant a lot to me this year, even more than it usually does, we really do have so much to be proud of. The sense of pride dulls the pain of losing, until I remember I also would have felt all of that pride had we won, and then the disappointment returns :'(

It’s strange to think that the difference between winning and losing could have been the fitness of a 30-something Melbourne reject, from when they were crap. I’m no tactical expert but it doesn’t take a genius to see that we were missing a key back today. I couldn’t be less interested in recriminations over selection, but can’t help but feel a fit Dunn today would have made a difference. Please get well soon.

Small comforts but at least we can be proud of our efforts and relieved that we lost to a team who were worthy winners and due our respect.

We definitely got the raw end of the deal with umpires yesterday. I personally thought they were terrible.
That lucky boot for WC goal in the first, the touched behind, some crucial little things here and there seemed to conspire against us all day. I am just consoling myself with the fact that WC are a damm good side and it was no fluke where they finished or the fact they beat us 3 times this year.

Hey Pies, not here to troll. Genuine commiserations; it would be horrific to get so close and be denied in the dying minutes, but at least it showed you deserved to be there. Really impressive effort from your club to have finished 13th last year, then be top 4 this season, lose in the first week of the finals and still make it to the GF. Great character.
You were involved in one of the best GFs of recent times. Feel sad but feel proud!

And thanks for denying the Tigers a back-to-back! ;)

See you next season... I hope our boys can be competitive enough to give you a run for your money...

Unfortunately Grundy is not just a ruckman and gets held to higher standards.

This. He is expected to get 2-3 Brownlow votes every game he plays. He’s suffering from what Pendles suffered from at his peak. Even though his ‘poor’ games are still better than most ruckmen’s good games, he’s not given any leeway.
