That's the thinking we need - think it was Gary Player (golfer) who said "the harder I work, the luckier I get"
And he wore black so he’s got the colours part right too.

But there is so Much truth there.
Harder you work luckier you get.

It was also Daic's who - in reply to Captain blood's depreciation of his dribble goals being 'luck' - replied that it was funny because the more he practiced them the luckier he got.

Yes.
There was one at work on Tuesday.
I said “you’ve got a cheek showing your face around here”.
He just hopped away. Not a care in the world.....

Thank goodness I feel like I turned a bit of an emotional corner last night- acceptance will come to us all at different times but it's important it does. Those still hurting more than I am consider these points:

- We aren't the first team to lose a close GF and we won't be the last.
- If you had have offered 2nd place to us at the beginning of the year we would have all taken it.
- Close games are harder to digest but the fact of the matter is all teams have the ability to play well enough to take luck out of it. If you think of the errors and chances our players made at various times and accept it is just because of inexperience or not being ready, it's absolutely fine. - A Grand Final is never going to pan out perfectly just because it's the Grand Final.
- We aren't necessarily an unlucky team. That ball bobbles up for Milne in 2010, and we have a 28 year gap between flags instead of 8. Sumich kicks that goal in 1990 and we may be on a 50 year drought.

Lastly I encourage anybody who hasn't watched Bucks' speech to have a look at at least the last few minutes. He talks about "putting yourself out there" or "putting it all on the line" in both a football sense and in the sense of larger life. Opening ourselves up to hurt is a part of life to anybody that wants to achieve anything worthwhile. It also makes us better people.

Remember also that football is a past-time not just to see your team win (as nice as it is) but to escape with friends and family from our troubles in life, work and whatever else we have going on. The thing I love about the footy is that for 2 hours a week I get to invest emotionally in something recreational which makes me forget about the more serious things I need to face in different stages of life. That privilege is a wonderful thing no matter who your team is. Don't let the lean times of footy rock your faith in what means so much to you.

Love to all.

Agree with all except the 'Milne' part - the ball bounced at right angles from a Collingwood player before it even got to the little sh1t lol.

My wifi connection pretty much killed my viewing of the second half, which I only saw in patches (the last vision I watched was McGovern poised to mark the ball late in the last). By the time I'd refreshed the scores on the AFL's website (that too was a spinning ball of nothing) the Eagles were in front. And with my stream unresponsive, and knowing that the chances to sneak a late winner were remote, I walked from the room a shattered man. Listening to the last 90 seconds via SEN's broadcast, head hung low and cursing, sure was a sad end to my Grand Final experience.

So what did I do?

Possessing a sick craving to watch it all unravel, I downloaded a copy of the GF, a copy of the post match, a copy of AFL 360's GF edition, and a copy of On The Couch's GF review. But I still haven't found the intestinal fortitude to watch any of them, despite a gnawing appetite to.

So if anyone has watched a replay can you tell me if the experience was cathartic or crippling? I really need to bury some of my emotional demons.

I never watch the replay of any game we lose let alone a grand final. Hell I won't even watch the replay of drawn (is that how you spell it) games.
I have pretty much every game for the last 10 years downloaded on my computer. Every win that is.

Generally speaking.. I think if someone is brave enough to coach like a Ferguson Wenger Mourinho Clough Paisley.. expect 6 Premierships in 10 yrs until other coaches catch on.. one thing I've always found amusing is watching AFL coaches like Scott and Richardson talking tactics and other shit on 360.

At least channel 7 did away with the Grand Final replay this year. It is basically a 12 hour Collingwood torture marathon imo.
