5 weeks is the longest I have seen someone sidelined for with a "slight hamstring tear".

I know its only minor in the scheme of things, but Buddy can pretty much kiss goodbye to another Coleman Medal and AA selection.

when Buddy did his hammy the club was very quick to point out it was very minor and the scan showed only a little bit of bleeding.

5 weeks later he is still recovering. This is the longest "minor hammy" in the history of man kind.

Not sure why we continue to BS about this stuff to be honest.

Anyway fire up this week Hawthorn. As the big man in the cheer squad would say "LIFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFTTTTTT"

Re Buddy. I'll say this:

60,000 members
Thousands of BF passionate know it all's
Mark Evans

You spin shit that he has 'slight bleeding in his hamstring'. Buddy goes 'OTC' says 'slight tear'. Slight bleeding well expect 1-2 weeks conservatively.

Go back to the Carlton game, Buddy bends down to pick up the ball at full pace, feels a 'pinch' goes off.

Plays next week against GWS, goes off.

In both incidents, ice was not applied to the hamstring injury. I'm just a bloke who lays bricks and shit mate i'm not smart, but I have enough commonsense to apply ice to a hammy once it is pinged.

So a full tear of hammy is 21-28 days, we have passed that right?

No explanation or clarification from Mark Evans this week. Mark you are getting on my 'NERVE'.....

Some communication re the injury would help, FFS we are playing Port and GC.... not like its IP.

Get well Buddy and soon, can't wait to see you on the park on not on my nerve.

Thanks GH i know the truth is in here somewhere

As far as I can remember, the players and club have been saying that buddy will come back when we believe he absolutely ready. Sewell said that it might be GWS or GC. He said, when he's absolutely ready, he'll play.

So I would much rather them take a super conservative approach and give him a fitness block of training instead of risking him against Port. The fair ctiticism of the club is that they haven't said anything during the announcement of the team this week. I agree with posters on this particular point.

Buddy is probably saying he's 100% and wants to play, but the club will make its own call this time and not go on his word. Again, fair enough, considering there is plane travel involved.

with all do respect, we are playing port and gold coast in the next two weeks, i couldnt give a shit who plays.. as long as buddy is in for the sydney game, which im sure is why they are resting him I think we will be good...

Its a reaction to the negative media attn we got after playing him vs GWS. Why would we risk him, seriously dont think we need to look into this any further.
The problem isnt so much with buddy not playing, what gives supporters the sh%ts is that the club comes out and tells us he only has a slight strain when the injury happens, either that is bs and he had a high grade tear in the hammy or the rehab staff stuffed up his treatment and set him back ( a la luke hodge ) All in all the buddy injury drama, from playing him against GWS, the reporting of the injury, the club not admitting they stuffed up, and his slow rehab, has been totally unprofessional and nowhere near good enough for an organisation with the resources of the HFC.

At the end of the day, Bud not playing this week won't affect the result.

Its disappointing that he will most likely not win the Coleman this year after again being clearly the best forward in the game.

Who cares about the Coleman. Or if he makes AA. Fair enough, a lot of people do. In my view, we need him cherry ripe for the Sydney and West Coast games leading into the finals. It's all about giving us the best chance for Ultimate success in 2012. That's all I'm focused on. A mistake was made playing him vs GWS. It may or may not have cost us the Geelong game, though I believe we gained enormously from that game (should have been won).

Our guys again get a chance to play without Buddy and as long as we win, it is another chance for the guys to gel without looking for Buddy in the fwd line.

Was told he re- injured his hammy at training and is 2 weeks away from playing.

I hoped this was false, but it looks ont he mark.

Lets not forget that the players and Evan's are no different. They are all briefed as to what the media may ask and what the response should be.

Nah, that's just the rumour mill putting 1 and 1 together and coming up with 3.

If there is any chance of him re-injuring then no point risking it. Besides kicking goals wont be Hawthorns concern. Stopping Ports tall forward line should be Hawthorns only concern.

A little birdy told me a rumour unrelated to his injury, however like every other rumour I doubt there is one bit of truth surrounding it.
Brad Hardie was asked on radio by a Hawk member to elaborate on the little biut of rumor he had just talked about. He wouldn,t couldn,t or what ever. But just throwing a "NOTHING" onto the airwaves was unfair and if he couldn,t elaborate then he should have said nothing at all. But he did. He was then asked by the caller if Buddy would be off Hawthorns list next season , caller obviously fishing to see if it was a drug or misbehavior issue, this so called grubby stuff going on at Hawthorn. Hardie said NO not at all.
The problem for me with it is Hardie 9 out of 10 times is right on the money.

Now fellow Hawks members tell me if I,m imagining this, but over the last few weeks I,ve seen Buddy up in the box with Luke Hodge , and imagination or not things looked rather chilly up there? Yes /no??

Hasn't Schultz been injured for about a month?

Is he back?

Yep, with a vengeance.

Against Hawks...3, 1, 1, 4, DNP

Well maybe I imagined him always getting a hold of us

Well research reveals he is indeed the threat.

From our last 5 games against Port...

Schulz 9 Goals
Ebert 4 Goals
Hitchcock 4 Goals
Stewart 3 Goals
Pearce 3 Goals
Westhoff 3 Goals

So in the last 5 games only Schulz & Davenoport average over 1 goal a game against us.

I seem to remember him kicking 7 against us one day; a day when we'd done enough all over the ground & yet he kept them in it & won the game...

Maybe it's a bad dream that all Hawks fans have from time to time...?

Yep, was sure he'd gotten a hold of us once

Maybe it was a preseason game or a dream like you say :D

No, to me he looked bored out of his skull more than anything else.

That is the fact of the matter, and they must feel there is good reason to be so vague.
It's just clearly frustrating to read what are quite positive articles ie Mark Evans this week on Buddy only to see him miss again.
It make any comment that comes out of the club almost pointless because there is a good chance it will be crap.

Honestly, I think given *censored rumours* and Hawthorn's history of misreporting injuries, people outside the club are going to be suspicious until we are seeing daily scans of his hamstring and copies of his fitness reports...

Surely if this was drug related in any fashion it would be well entrenched in media speculation by now. So far not a sniff (or snort - hahaaaaaa...) from what I've seen/heard has been mentioned anywhere about it except here on BigFooty where people like to troll and some others like to take the gamble of confirming rumours in the hopes that they can gain further credibility as a source of "inside information" in the future if it turns out they were "right all along".

As far as I'm concerned right now it's a simple matter of Occam's Razor. In this case the most likely scenario is that his hammy is legitimately fine now and Buddy could've played this week if really needed but given the quality of opposition and the fact it's out of Melbourne they're being extra conservative and giving him one more additional week.

They're essentially doing what they should've (in hindsight) done with the GWS game. To think it's anything more sinister than this based on what we know is true is just jumping at shadows.

The big problem here is the more Evans and the club dance around the Buddy hamstring the more rumors are floated about an alternate reason for Buddy's absence. Anyone going to the open training session tomorrow?
I know open sessions are just show pieces, but hopefully someone can get some inside info and give us frustrated supporters as to when we will see Buddy kicking goals again. My gut feeling says next week. Hope I'm right.

This has been doing the rounds.

I actually said to the missus "shit look at the body language between Hodgey and Buddy".

I like every Hawk supporter hopes like hell this rumor is bullshit.
