Numbers now available after trades/delistings/retirements (my guess in brackets):

13 (Lowden)
16 (Lisle)
17 (Whitecross)
20 (Hale)
22
24 (Stratton)
28
30 (Cheney)

There are lower jumper numbers freed up but I assume they will be taken by the new draftees.

Re: So, who takes the vacant jumper numbers?

I don't think giving 17 to Trav would be wise given that he already struggles with the pressure of who his dad is but maybe 24 for Langford if Stratton doesn't want it

Re: So, who takes the vacant jumper numbers?

I think Jordan Lewis should give up the number 3 for Tucky.

Very good Nev.

I think Hale is a monty for the 13 - he seems like a 13 wearer to me particularly with his rug.

Young Langers into 28 where his old man started.

Re: So, who takes the vacant jumper numbers?

Not necessarily. In 2005, Buddy wore 38, Roughie wore 35, Lewis wore 40, Taylor 43 and Young 45.

Sorry, I meant higher. I guess I was looking at 1 being the highest...not sure why now that I think about it

I agree though, new draftees will likely get numbers from 30 and HIGHER:)

Re: So, who takes the vacant jumper numbers?

13 Milne
16 Hale
17 Whitecross
20 Lisle
22 Tuck (I reckon we'll rookie him and he'll keep his number)
24 Stratton
28 Breust
30 Cheney

It's old school. If you have been watching footy as long as I have, you will recall the days when captains wore 1, Vice Captains wore 2, etc. Port Adelaide still do it with their captains. Lower numbers used to indicate seniority in the team, but not so much these days.

I like the way Hawthorn do it. Issue high numbers at first, and then work your way up the list, with certain numbers won by special players. The last thing I want to see is players running around with numbers like 99 as they do in America.

Re: So, who takes the vacant jumper numbers?

13 Hale – this is a good big man ruck numberr
16 Lisle – same size as Dowler so we can save money on extra jumpers, as Dowler never got any dirt on his
17 Smith – a lanky wingman number, ala Tuck, the great Muston,
20 Whitecross – back pocket number, scott maginess, Rawlings,
24 Stratton – CHB number, everyone loves the 24 and stratts, and you get to sit next to Buddy
28 Milne – moved so Bruce gets 32 his Dees number, im against in principle rookie players getting to move up in numbers, if you are not on the list you should keep a high number
30 Cheney – He is the Pelchin appointed Brown replacement

32 Bruce – His Dees number, he gets to sit next to Cyril, can learn to tackle

Re: So, who takes the vacant jumper numbers?

Does anybody know when we will find out the player numbers? I want to get Smithy's number ASAP :)

I don't think he would want the same jumper as he did at the dees, he takes this as a new start!
