That f*n brad scott ain’t got the balls to get in the media and explain himself ,, whether the afl realise he has bad PR painted all over him I dunno but he’s had like 1 media conference since he got the gig
How TF did this campaigner get the gig?

Add that to the list of reasons. Fair dinkum, the average punter is taken for a fool.

Coming from regional Vic it's been hard to get to games this year.

Thought I may be a chance to get down this Saturday albeit for a cats home game and this is the price to sit on level 4?

Fair dinkum, there'll be bays and bays of seating empty on Saturday but they'll ask us to fork out 55 clams to seat in the bleeds - trash.View attachment 1428676

On Pixel 6 Pro using BigFooty.com mobile app
Ticketek site selling general admission for $27 (probably plus a booking fee of $3). I buy these for away games played at the G. Always find unused seats up on level 4. Some games you can get down to spare seats in the M areas of the Southern Stand. If you happen to be on a mobile plan with Telstra you can buy them for $20 + booking fee through their website.

No surprises really. Bloke was a snivelling little sniper on the field in his playing days.

I didn't watch after quarter time.
I just can't.
But I will have the live scores on my phones that updates the scores in real time.
I was convinced I was the only one.
I woke up four times during the night and my mind kept going to the result.
Some losses hurt, and others really hurt.

I can’t watch on tv hate the umps saying stand and can’t stand the commentary and I just miss the atmosphere of being at the game

To be fair, I am still going to our games, when I would've gone previously.

If it doesn't clash with the kids sport, I still go because they enjoy it...

HOWEVER

Even though I go, I am certainly not enjoying it. There are games that we go, we win, and I still go home unhappy. And it's nothing to do with our team or club... I even used to be able to enjoy games we lost (provided we played well and had an even playing field)....

But the level of umpiring is deplorable. And it's multi faceted:

  • The new rules are s**t
  • The new rules are applied inconsistently
  • The umpires are inconsistent with most/all interpretations
  • It's not just the new rules they get wrong, they now get the basic rules wrong more often than not
  • The influence umpiring is having on the outcome of games has become too strong

So whilst this is frustrating watching our games, I think the real reflection/indication that I'm not seeing this through Richmond coloured glasses is this:

I get just as frustrated watching a neutral game as I do ours...

To a point where I used to watch 5-7 games a weekend time permitting, where now I am lucky to have other games on in the background.

It's why non-member / neutral people aren't choosing to go to games, plain and simple.
Sums up my feelings perfectly too. Thankyou.

Well said Hank!!!!!

If I still lived in Melbourne it would probably be where I sat as well. When I was down the weekend we played Melbourne, normally would bust my balls to get to the ground one way or another - just couldn't be bothered with all the palava - normally it's worth it - just isn't anymore from a pure enjoyment trade-off factor.

Turn the TV games off mid game these days after seeing stupid 50m penalties decide games way too early. Often hand the remote to the wife and say watch whatever you want to watch - it will have to be better than this contrived monkey menagerie of a game. I'll keep buying my membership from RFC as the past 8 years have been so great by them, but that's all - I'm now disconnected. Was so passionate once. Have told the Club this is the recent survey. Doubt anything will change for the better.

Club sent out a survey as to why people aren’t going, do it and send the message
Did it!

Let's face it though, the AFL always gets more comfort from blaming its customer than critiquing its own product or its performance. Very occasionally we have heard "we could have done that better" when the problem was abject, but nothing meaningful usually happens after that.

I’m the same , but have cancelled my membership with a letter as to the why, I can watch wwe if I want contrived results

I've been to every game whilst being in the country this year, and I have to say, I can see why people don't turn up. Its an absolute shit show to put it frankly.

They tell you to support your club by buying a membership, then you go to the G and the only GA seats are the back 5 rows of the Southern (Warney) Stand. To upgrade your seat (and subsequently sit 5 rows further forward in the same stand) is $45. WTF.

I don't complain because I love spending time with the old man at the footy and luckily enough his eyes are still good enough to see from the nose bleeds. But I can imagine this experience being horrible for others and not wanting to go back.

Then you have the ticketing system. ****. ME. I know we are moving to a digital/paperless (don't tell Michael Scott) world, but how about a bit of transition first hey?! Wean the punters off the physical tickets/membership cards. Come on. And you can't even buy a ticket at the ground anymore... jfc. Can you see why people don't want to go anymore?

Finally, and probably most importantly... the product - I used to laugh at people that would say "footy isn't what it used to be in the 80s and 90s". But seriously. Since the inclusion of the stand rule (to stop us from winning ;)) the AFL has quite simply lost the plot. It's been building for a few years now, but this season is the breaking point of the game being "over officiated". Puzzling free kicks that even the most astute footy aficionados cant explain. 50m penalties for absolutely nothing. Rule changes on the run. I feel for the umpires having to officiate a sport that essentially changes their rules weekly on the run. It is impossible to have consistency in your craft when you are continually told to do something different or in a different way. It's not how our brain works.

AFL 360 spinning the propaganda " this is the best I have ever seen footy" most likely forcing the clubs to speak the same message unless the risk a "please explain"
Listening to these media puppets spew the AFL propaganda is sickening . Nobody thinks it’s the best footy that actually goes or follows it closely apart from these morons that get paid to comment on it with a positive spin.

The rules are actually destroying the game and everything that. people have loved about it growing up.

You only had one job AFL........

cant stand going to thursday games (other than round 1) so thats now a Tv game
i go to most of our other home games
game is crap to watch with stand rule 50m etc
the thing i hate the most is our own supporters bagging our own players, it is cringe worthy

Totally agree with this too, our "fans" ****ing suck. Seen 3 flags in 5 years and act like self entitled ****s at the ground.

My favourite was one "fan" ranting and raving about us not kicking the ball, screaming KIIIICCCCKKK IT every time we got possession. Like **** man have you even watched how we play?

I've been to 5 games so far, and probably will be hitting up a few more. I'm still enjoying the spectacle and have no intention of stopping anytime soon. I will admit that maybe it's just where i'm sitting (mcc), but the noise coming from tiger fans seems a bit down? Maybe we don't have as large a presence there as other clubs or just that being further away from the punt rd end lessens the impact. I just hope to see some more hunger from the crowd. Obvs we've been fed quite well in recent years so it's understandable to not be the rabble that we were. Any thoughts on this or am I off the mark?

NM couldn't afford to pay him out .......

Not really surprised if the below is true.

Yep. Rather than bail out a pathetic club like NM with the funds to dispose of the campaigner that f'kd them over; easier to give him an exorbitant salary to do what he's good at at the AFL.

As for Grant Thomas, he's on the money again. The AFL has become an Orwellian organisation immune to criticism intent on controlling the minds and thoughts of the dumb masses via its media arm. Pathetic. And they wonder why people are not going...???

Free kicks that use to be obvious to all and sundry including the average punter...now have to be reverse engineered and minutely dissected by a cohort of so called footy experts(AFL sucks!) to even make a skerrick/modicum of sense...see!!!!!

I've been to 2 games this year which were R4 and 10 and have no real desire to attend anymore, was going to go this week but as each day passes i am changing my mind over to not going.

For me it's the rules like most, stand stand stand is the worst rule ever, the 50m penalties for backing away from the mark, protected area rubbish etc etc

Rolling fixture: sorry Richmond but there is just no point anymore is getting an 11 or 16 game membership when you don't know when the games are going to be scheduled, i have cut out thursdays including R1 which has become boring ( hate playing carlton and thursday every year ) and sundays are my 2nd least preferred day to attend sport so for me a 3 gamer is more beneficial financially.

Gameday experience: my standing room area where i have stood for 20 years has been made ' no alcohol zone " so no one stands in there anymore, there was nothing better when everyone was packed in there like sardines but now that has been stripped away.

But in general i just don't enjoy the game of football to the point i barely watch games anymore and that includes tiger games, i just check scores these days.

That reminds me, I can't for the life of me figure out how to roll back my full membership for next season. Been knocking around in the hellscape that is the "member zone" for like an hour.
Might be worth calling up the team
Although that takes a while too

I've been to two games this year.

I feel like I've lost my passion for the footy. After seeing three premierships and being able to attend two of them I'm very content. The last two years of not being able to go added to me losing that passion.

The rules changes every year really turn me off also. They bring in the most ridiculous rules. I don't know of any other sporting league that changes its rules so often.

The digital membership has been nothing but a headache for me, both times I wanted to attend I needed to call the club to help me out as the app stuffs up constantly when switching between memberships.

I've been a reserved seat member for 15 years x 2. Paid full price through covid. After this year I'm dropping my 2 reserved seats to just a general membership. If I want to go to a game I'll pay for the upgrade.
