Maybe over the top on my part but we get enough fake news without the FTA TV adding to the list. Channel TEN aired a heatwave health warning which is quite appropriate if we are going to have a week of 38 plus temps but when they do it for one hot day the risk is that a really essential warning will loose it's impact.

The BOM definition of a heatwave is excessive heat over three or more days. The exact temperature will depend on locality.

Channel TEN aired a heatwave health warning which is quite appropriate if we are going to have a week of 38 plus temps but when they do it for one hot day the risk is that a really essential warning will loose it's impact.

TV news are desperate to get video footage for their stories. If there’s no footage to go with a story it doesn’t get to air.

All of them, including ABC, are more than willing to manufacture hype around a local story to garner views and where there is stock footage or easy to grab footage to go with it. It’s why they troll court houses and follow the GRN emergency scan.

And what could be easier than to manufacture a heatwave story when it gets anywhere near 39 degrees and get a reporter to broadcast live from Glenelg or another local beach during their news program?

Has been that way for as long as I can remember.

Apparently this group now covers 4.5% of the Australian population and I guess the more letters they add the bigger the group becomes. With the increase comes the greater risk of offending someone. It is not surprising that the percentage of people identifying as LGBTQIA+ is much larger among younger Australians.

The issue is all to do with the 2026 Census which, according to Anthony Albanese, will have a question about sexuality in it. Of course there is a Federal election due next year and Anthony may not be Prime Minister at the time of the next Census and Peter Dutton may have different ideas.

On the subject of technology Swedish field research recently proved that it is quicker and safer to push a button in the old car radio than it is to swipe a touch screen in a modern car.

Australia must be the only country on the planet to have three official flags. In this case I have to agree with Dutton. Maybe we should have another referendum to decide on the Australian Flag Mk III ?

I am not too fussed what the ultimate design is but pollies standing in front of 3 or 4 flags is divisive and ridiculous.

Quite correct The First Fleet that arrived in Sydney Cove in January 1988 consisted of all male crew, convicts and marines. The first females arrived aboard the transport Charlotte on February 6th. Apparently there was widespread public debauchery on evening of Feb 6th.

I view myself as a small l liberal but freely admit I have no feckin clue about any of this. And I agree with what Ricky Gervais said about this gender stuff - who in the 1980s would have thought that publicly stating that someone with a penis must be a male would be one of the most evil things you could say 40 years later.

But I think its true with most things - live long enough and you'll see just about everything you once took to be facts based reality or morally right v wrong turned on its head.
