This sounds like a satire of the hippie lifestyle – the man described in the song reminds me of the somewhat notorious, if brilliant proto-hippie artist Eric Gill.

It’s a wonder to me how NME missed this from its top 500 albums – it’s not as if she’s unknown in the UK. It is the most original thing to come out of the 2000s.

A very underrated band despite their epic pretensions – more than Joni or Patti, this is what the “Lilith Fair” generation wanted to sound like, yet none captured its sensuality and beauty.

This was seen as difficult when I read about it, but somehow I have always really liked it. Almost post-rock in 1970.

I might love the misheard lyric that I think of to mock Australia’s crazy weatherpeople who should say it’s horrible at above 30˚C, but the beauty of the music makes that a non-issue.
