This is an amazing piece – actually it is quite fast-paced but the way it is written is totally unique, never replicated yet accessible. I didn’t know Joni did something like this before hearing it – Hejira did get to number 13 on Billboard despite no airplay and I imagine none on “classic rock” stations today – but I loved it from the start

Even better than ‘Coyote’ from one of the most important records for a budding collection – it is literally floating amidst the spartan melody and beautiful voices.

This is so catchy that its jarring yet powerful and even melodic tone caught me right out first listen and still does.

This song is very recent. The first time I heard it on the radio I only caught the outro and had to find the song. Jumped on Triple J plays, then unearthed and it's been my favourite song for the year since. If you don't include songs of To Pimp A Butterfly anyway

Power ballads by metal/hard rock bands tend to stick with me from day 1, below are a few I never tire of

Prodigal Son - Iron Maiden
Quicksand Jesus - Skid Row
The Legacy - Testament
Black Lodge - Anthrax

Then there's songs that, given my taste in music, I have no right to enjoy. Prime suspect here is Cold Chisel's When The War Is Over.

The Script - Superheroes, Breakeven
Birds of Tokyo - This Fire, Lanterns, When the Night Falls Quiet
Coldplay - Clocks, Viva La Vida, A Sky Full of Stars, Yellow
U2 - New Years Day, Beautiful Day
Icehouse - Great Southern Land
Taylor Swift - Style, Wildest Dreams, All you had to do was stay
The Temper Trap - Sweet Disposition
Silverchair - Straight Lines

How could I forget This Is What It Feels Like by Armin van Buuren. The day I discovered that song was a great day.
