1. Noticed a bloody huge Crazy Johns banner at Preston last week, who was that in support of?
2. Does anyone know if we have approached Tiger Airlines, would seem a match made in heaven?

yeah i beleive we have and the club were quite keen on the idea but it clashes with the AFL's sponsor with QANTAS or something like that.

yeh and collingwood's emerites clashing with QANTAS aswell but it had to do with that emerites was international and tiger airlines wasnt, some mmbo jumbo like that
it would have been a good sponsorship though because we could have got free plane tickets for the interstate games.
as for crazy johns and if they sponsor coburg - check out their website im sure it will have coburgs sponsors posted somewhere

I believe the Tiger Airlines deal would not be allowed because they are a domestic carrier as well as doing some international routes which competes directly with QANTAS. Emirates is soley an international airline in Australia and as such is not in direct competition with QANTAS.

AFL are weak bastards and full of manure. Tiger Airlines is an international carrier they are based in Singapore - check their website www.tigerairlines.com They are partly owned by Singapore Airlines. They have been flying into Australia for a while now - Darwin and have just announced they will base their Australian operations in Melbourne.

Their board consists of investers from Singapore , Ireland and the USA.

We should fight this with the AFL but where will it get us.

tiger airlines is a small corporation which would be seen as a waste of space to afl. collingwood and emirates are swimming in banknotes so why wouldnt andy demitriou deny emirates the chance to sponsor collingwood, thus letting another faceless corporation pump more money into another corporation?

the only thing on andrew demetriou and eddie mcguires minds are money. the more the better. Toyota-lexus. emirates-qantas. channels 9-7. crazy johns-vodafone. crazy johns-bigpond. collingwood have been able to get the big companies to sponsor them and the afl have said go ahead.

The argument about Qantas being domestic does not stand up anyway.
They started as an international carrier and the domestic carrier was TAA then it became Australian Airlines. The domestic airline has only been Qantas since the mid ninties.
With that in mind it should be Emirates and the Black and White low life mongrels that should not be allowed to be in bed together.

someone else said that Geelong were allowed to keep ford as their sponsor because they were in partnership before Toyota and the AFL came together. I'm not sure how long QANTAS has been sponsoring the AFL but it could be for the same reason

No Crazy has put any $$$ into Coburg.

Crazy John's are a sponsor of the Bullants , hence why there was the big sign last Saturday at Preston

Thought as much WP and thanks. And this is the legend who wants on our Board and is a Tiger die hard...cough cough. Sponsors Colonwoood and now the Baggers or at least Preston. Its obvious where his alliances lie, his back pocket.

Ford has been a sponsor of Geelong in some form or another since the 1920's, when Toyota was still a glint in Hirohito's eyes, indeed Ford's relationship with Geelong would come close to being one of the longest/oldest sponsorships in the world. Certainly should us Cats have this unencumbered by any AFL sponsorship that has happened much more subsequent to this. A fair bit of wheeling and dealing was done between Geelong, the AFL, Ford and Toyota to allow this scenario to take place though. Good thing the AFL compromised and deferred to history.
