St Kilda: Premiership favourites?

How impressive have the Saints been so far this year? It's not just the fact that they were winning games, but it's the way they are winning them which is so impressive. The hard work their players are putting in when they haven't got the ball, the tackling and chasing down of opponents is fantastic to see.

The only negative so far was the reason they played finals last year, and that's Nick Riewoldt who's clearly a bit out of touch. If he starts to get some confidence back in his kicking watch out.

While the betting markets might suggest otherwise I think St Kilda are the clear favourites at this early stage to get that second premiership this year.

big problems in the air, in defense.

Saints v Freo at Jihadi Stadium next week :D

It's been what, 6-7 years since the Saints lost a Saturday night game there.

Knee surgery a month out may do that to you. Has been pretty busy regardless of not kicking a goal - threw a shoe at the radio when the umpire called that clean handball a throw and denied Goddard being set up for a major. He'll run into some better form in a few weeks or so. Looking forward to it. :thumbsu:

Go Saints!

All I can say is it's a long season and there is a lot to prove, but yes they do seem to be second favourites at this stage.

St Kilda look like premiership favorates when they're playing against West Coast in the same way that Zac Dawson looks like a Brownlow Medal contender when he's playing against West Coast.

Let's look at the teams they've beaten:

Round 1: Sydney

Sydney came to play and just couldn't keep up with the Saints intensity. They went onto to beat the reigning premiers in Round 2, quite easily in the end.

Round 2: Adelaide

Adelaide beat Collingwood in Melbourne the previous week, and against the Saints were playing at home in AAMI stadium. Adelaide came to play but again were well beaten by a better team.

Round 3: West Coast

Came close to beating Brisbane in Brisbane in Round 1, and then thrashed Port Adelaide (a favourite to make the final eight) in Round 2. Now currently getting thrashed by the Saints.

Saints are playing good footy.

Um no, wrong. Adelaide did not come to play, but I agree they were beaten by a better team on the night.

Agreed Gandaal, and not just because the Swans have lost to them! The pressure they apply is second to none, and with Geelong and the Hawks still looking relatively shakey - Geelong less so - I definately think they're up there.

Premiership favourites? Let them play Collingwood/Geelong/Bulldogs first, and then we'll see. I'll say the same about Carlton. Good form, but haven't beaten much.

Your obviously too close to see the game clearly. The crows were playing out of their skins to keep up with the saints for the first three quarters, and in the end you just couldn't keep it up.
