Movie Star Wars - Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker - Spoilers and Rumors

This last trilogy has been hilariously bad and the reactions from the devoted fan base have been delightful. What's not to love? Some of the finest moments in the Star Wars "cannon" (Mark Hamil staring at Rey while drinking FRESH MILK out some Weird Alien Tit... wonderful stuff!)

Good on you for defending the films against all those nasty Internet trolls though great job :thumbsu:
So you are whinging about them. Just confirming.

Not defending anything.
Are they better than the OT? No, not even close.
Better than the PT? 100% yes.

Just amusing that you are bagging the fans for whinging about the trilogy while whinging about the trilogy.

I don't know why you can't understand this but I really don't care about Star Wars as much as you think I do :tearsofjoy:

I'm here because I saw the new trailer on the news, and I couldn't be more excited. I hope there's more breast-milk, racist stereotypes and midichlorians, that's real Space Movie stuff IMO.

Keep telling yourself you don't care. As you keep posting in Star Wars threads.
Amusing to the rest of us.

Star wars was ruined by the prequels.

At least TFA had some adventure and fun to it, unlike the boredom and stiff acting/dialogue that was TPM, AOTC and ROTS.
I didn't care for the prequels, but they didn't ruin Star Wars. The new films didn't ruin Star Wars either. The only thing ruining Star Wars is supposed fans of Star Wars.

dhu

i think all parties are responsible for it.

They should never have killed off Snoke in TLJ and used him in the role Palps is gonna have in IX instead.

Rey could still be a Palpatine but made of his genetic material artificially. Could've made it that Snoke wanted her dead because Palpatine was some old rival of his but some of Palps loyalists hid her on Jakku.

Yeah I know. But they, in my opinion, were woeful. Those who loathe TLJ and put Lucas on a podium are the same as those who were saying He killed their childhoods when they were released. Seem to forget that.

I don't forget that because that wasn't me. I liked the prequels. They still felt like SW in a way that TLJ didn't.

Fair enough if that's your opinion. They felt completely different to the OT for me. At least the sequals seemed to go back to the same style as the OT(no matter how bad TLJ was executed)

They felt completely different but they also built up the world that they existed in. So that even though the movies themselves weren't A-grade, they've spanned a lot of fantastic material and the era feels lived in and real like the OT. There's a disconnect between the two, fair, but they still feel like Star Wars. The ST shrinks the universe again and makes it so two-dimensional that it's hard to connect or enjoy the era.

I remember thinking TPM felt more like Star Trek than Star Wars for the first half hour. It slowly pulled itself back, but even that was because of throwbacks like Tattooine, Jabba and the droids. I think a lot of the reason the PT era feels more 'lived in' is because of the associated books in the EU. The ST will ultimately have that feel too (and we can all complain about how the new trilogy revolving around Rey and Kylo's kids doesn't feel like Star Wars :p)

Resistance, a kids cartoon set during/after TFA and TLJ has already poked fun at the fact that the two films take place over the course of a week and that flaw can never be undone. The shallow world building of those films means that there is very little that peripheral material can do to add to those films.

With the prequels you had a mass of Clone Wars material add to and build on AOTC and ROTS. Yes we can have something similar fill the (1 year?) between TLJ and TROS but I'm not sure we're ever going to feel like the ST era is much more than a cardboard cut out with a Tatooine clone planet.

Some talk from Rian Johnson post TLJ... lol

This ****head didn't even know what world he was playing in.

Jedi generally are not genetic/hereditary - as they don't have kids.

The Skywalker line was different, due to it's origin, then Anakin having kids, and then Luke changing some of the parameters of the Jedi Order.

****ing RYAN.

1. they retcon SW with a flashback showing luke training leia as a quick justification that leia is a jedi master, so that she can train rey. instead of using the actual master luke, they killed him off as a decrepit hermit because its bad form to have a man training/teaching a woman. it has to be a woman teaching rey.

2. they continue to destroy the OT characters. c3po is lobotomized, his cpu chip replaced with a battle droids. hence the red eyes and cross bow scene. but why would his eyes turn red? an actual LED filter would have to be installed but jj doesnt care.

3. the ultimate ignominy for 3po is that line in the trailer when he says, im saying goodbye to my friends but in front of him is rey, poe and finn. why would they be his friends? he hasnt done jack with them. his friends are all long gone in luke, han, etc. just more insult to fans and common sense alike.

Lived in is the last term I would use for the prequels. They all look so polished and glowy.

4. even if this is in atmosphere and not outer space, its still ludicrous. space horses are riding on the surface of a star destroyer. which is flying. look at all the other ships and star destroyers in the scene pictured. theyre clearly hundreds of miles in the air, flying.

Point 3 is a standout, I was thinking exactly that when watching the trailer. I’ve heard others say that dialogue hit them in the feels, but not for me. He’s known those guys for 5 minutes. His actual friends have been killed off and relegated.
