Back tracking is fine as it's a classic Metroidvania staple. Finding a new ability/weapon and then realising you could probably go back and use it somewhere to open a new area is all part of the fun and satisfaction.

The issue was the level design in the first game wasn't always conducive to back tracking. Too many long, straight sections and one way slides and elevators. Metroidvania gameplay requires the levels to smartly loop back upon themselves with various shortcuts and passages, instead of having to go on one long, straight trek just to get back to an area again.

Having a handful of quick travel points around each map would be wise too.

Yes, the map definitely needs improvement as well.

I played the first game recently and really enjoyed it. I didn’t know the release date for the sequel was already announced, so was pleasantly surprised when I saw it earlier. I can’t wait.

Delayed 6 weeks til April 28th.

Rideable mounts and fast travel have been confirmed. A big complaint of the first game has been addressed for the second game with fast travel.

Nearly 150GB

Since the download size is that massive, you would think the pre-load would have started 7 days before the games launch. Some pre-loads have been 4 or 7 days, so it wouldn’t be a first.

Games are definitely getting bigger and this should be less unusual in the near future, but it will be curious to see how common these install sizes will be for UE5 games especially. If the developer is utilising UE5's Nanite I wonder if they're just shipping massively detailed meshes and letting Nanite do all the optimisation and LOD work.

I think we will start seeing more people buying large 4-5 TB HDD’s for the same price as you could buy a 1 TB SSD. I reckon we will see a lot of games at the 80-100+ GB size as time goes on. The next Spider-Man game will likely be another one at that size.
