The whole Poe being surprised at a female admiral is a joke aswell. General Leia says hi
You can tell by my purple hair that I am bold and progressive, you can tell by my refusal to inform the commander of my fighter wing of the plan that I am strong and Poe is weak, I don't need a man.

It's like everyone in the movie has no experience fighting a war.

Even the prequels didn't have that though. Anakins fall was actually quite complex and structured over three films. The actual fall was a bit silly and sudden but not like this.

I completely agree. There was no signs of torment in a sleeping boy, only what Luke said about him having the dark side in him. I get that they wanted to make it Luke's fault like his insecurities about his father lead him down a path that created his father.

To be fair poe had just been demoted by Leia.

Is it me or was every male in this film weak and stupid?

Also lol at Finn falling for Rose after she kisses him... spent the whole film trying to track down Rey and then be like “stuff it she’s too hard to get with, on to this new chick that showed the slightest interest in me”

I don’t know I could be wrong but it did feel very hostile towards the male characters.

It did work well, it's just too bad in my opinion that Snoke didn't survive and that Luke's awesome display of power killed him. Also, if Luke knew that Snoke was corrupting Ben then wouldn't it have been more in character for Luke to have gone after Snoke for messing with his nephew? A flashback of those two duking it out would be cool.
...and all this happened in Ep 9, not this one. To me the ending would've made a superb way to conclude the 'triology'.

Saw the movie again last night. Enjoyed it a lot more second time around. I think it’s the middle section that really lets this movie down. Take out the casino scene, add in a lightsaber duel, and this movie instantly becomes a whole lot better.

Yoda scene and Kylo & Rey vs Snoke by far the best scenes.

Pretty much everyone's said this, so I'm holding out hope.

The film will get a lot of bad press about how pointless Finn was the whole film. All that was so he could kill chrome trooper and hook up.

Admiral Personality flying the ship into Snoke's ship was the plan all along to her, Finn was totally not needed.

Yeah but without Finn, they dont meet their black character quota.

I dunno. I think people are making excuses's for Luke's horrible death scene and trying to romantiscise things. Imagine if he just woke from his force trance thing he was in, right? Then got up and walked away, yeah? Then the last scene of the movie, you following? Is him standing, hand outstretched, using the force, and we see the X-Wing come in to frame? Maybe even have Yoda in the background, smiling?

How would that not be a massive improvement on 'he has to die now because we've banked on Leia being the only OT hero to make it out alive *girl power!* (damn you Carrie) so we can seamlessly shift our original heroes in to full focus', now get it done JJ/Rian.

lol no it won't, Disney could literally remake TPM and it wouldn't get bad press. This is the modern feel good casual nerd generation, and Disney play the markets accordingly.

I said it too about TFA but after a few more it started going downhill again. However TFA didn't kill my favourite character because reasons unrelated to telling a good story.

Funny enough TFA has gone back up after TLJ.

I think they will make it like Thor Ragnarok.
I don't think that tone really works in star wars. The most humor I've experienced in star wars was Aaron Allstons books and he had a perfect blend.

Luke has to die at some point. I’d rather him have an Enochian ascendance after owning Kylo like a boss - it was like a combination of Obi Wan and Yoda. The scene where he was looking to the horizon - towards twin suns - but actually focused on what he was doing (using the Force to save the day) was poetic.

If he’s in the picture, there is no way the First Order has any hope of winning, and the audience knows it. Now, they could have kept Snoke, and made a Luke vs Snoke/Rey vs Kylo battle in E9, but then the story would have been about Luke Skywalker - finding Luke, convincing Luke to join the fight, Luke ending the fight.

Luke has had his arc. Lucas always said that he was meant to pass Excalibur on to the next generation, not dust off the lightsaber and go into battle again.

I wish the X-Wing series was made in the non-Star Wars movie years :(

Strong women imperial characters there too

I was under the impression that it was a last minute decision, which makes you question why going kamikaze wasn't her plan to begin with (instead of merely going down with the ship).

Yep, but hey all that stuff is clearly rubbish that wouldn't appeal to anyone.

No one would possibly want a series based around fresh characters with a few familiar faces, going on daring action packed missions to take back Coruscant and defeat the remnants of the Empire.

Luke's death was perfect. He died on his own terms (essentially) went out like a hero, and wasn't sacrificed to make an evil character look strong like Han was.
Yeah it's one of the few things that didn't bother me.

Well Hamill and Ford have been killed off, and I hate to break it to you about Fisher but..

But seriously, if you thought Hamill added nothing to that film we were watching vastly different movies.

Was cringey. Unrecognisable from his character in the original trilogy.

Never was a strong actor but was far more believable/authentic as a young actor.

Got nothing out of this modern, old Luke Skywalker.
