Something a bit different I love numbers and I couldn’t find anywhere to put something like this so here it is. My 3 stats that matter.

1. Contested Marks - Casboult out marked the entire team of Geelong.

Casboult - 5
Geelong - 4

2. Winning at Kardinia Park - Round 22 in 1996. That’s a long time ago. 24 years. wow.

3. Wonders of Weitering - one of 4 players to poll in the AFLCA votes in all 3 games. Only defender in the AFL in the top 10 on the leaderboard. Leading the competition for spoils (20) and gaining 267m per game a whole 120m more than Harris Andrews despite having very similar stats in 2020.

I’d like to use this place to post important statistical improvements of blues players. Feel free to post key stats you notice for improvement.

Currently 2nd for I50 entries this season, up from 16th last year, has been a problem for more than a couple of seasons. Starting to hit targets too, which is just as important.

Would love to see kicks to advantage inside 50 stats for the last few years, we have been as wasteful as Treloar. Hopefully the game against the Cats is the turning point. Get the ball to the right players, the results will come.

Positional rating accord to AFL PLAYER RATINGS.
KPD
Jones - 7th
Weitering - 12th

GENERAL DEF
SPS - 3rd (suprising)
Docherty - 9th

KPF
Casboult - 5th
McGovern - 11th

MID
Cripps - 5th

MID/FWD
Martin - 8th

RUCK
Pittonet - 2nd

Now that’s a gd 3 weeks statistically.

Not too many teams can say they have won one of every two games they have played at Geelong over the past 24 years :p

I love the way the media keeps referring to our record of not having won at Kardinia park for 24 years, completely ignoring the fact we never played there for the first 21 of those years.

May not matter, but interesting regardless:

Sam Docherty leads the league for rebound 50s, and has 11 more than next best across the competition.

He had 14 on Saturday night, only 10 players have more than that for the entire season.

He also leads the league for metres gained, and is top 3 for interceptions (equal with SPS, interestingly).

All the talk is about Weitering slotting into an AA spot, but I'm putting an early watch on Doc.

We have only played at Geelong 4 times since 1996. One was in 1997 and the others 2018, 2019, and 2020.

Between 1992 and 2017 , Cats only beat Carlton once at Kardinia Park.
