Blake has improved outta site over the last 2 years and even though I agree he still has areas he need to improve, I think he is capable of becoming a decent hard working ruckman. I don't think he will ever be our true number 1 ruckman even when Otto retires. I am hopefull Dawson Simpson has talent to match his enormous height.

He didn't have a great game in the GF, but he wasn't alone in that department and he did not cost us the game. I hope he just comes up even better next year after another preseason under his belt. I would like to see him get some specialised ruck coaching though. His tap outs are beautiful now but I agree he needs to be a more physical presence on the field and be able to assist the midfielders better. I do think he does get pushed off the ball too easily and he should go start working out with Hunt and train with Rooke to get a mean streak in him.

Jeez I'm sick of hearing that same tired argument. 'Blake's still shit, but he's improving...' Who the **** cares if he's improving? You don't draft someone and say, 'Oh, he's an absoulte spud now, but he's getting better!' Shit, I could be an absolute spud now, but at least I'd be improving. Why don't I get a shot? Blake shits me to tears and I can't wait until the day that the club delist him. I used to cheer for him like the rest of you guys do, but who remembers the three legged dog analogy? Now, he just pisses me off. Players should be decent footballers before they get drafted to the AFL, not after.

This guy dancing reminds me of Mark Blake playing football.

Please provide details of who should be playing in the ruck ahead of Blake right now. I will be interested to see if you can provide any better options.

There's obviously nobody better on our list at the moment, but it's time to give some of our younger brigade a bit more of a chance. Obviously, Blake's not going to make it, and there's no point persevering with a bloke who's only ever going to be an average second string ruckman. Push them through until we find some that can cut it at AFL level. Don't settle for scraps.

So we should discard the guy who is clearly our 2nd best ruck option to give some young guys who may or may not be better a go?

At a time when we are pushing for premierships?

This to me seems ludicrous.

We are not rebuilding. We spent 6 years rebuilding in order to get to the point we are a strong premiership contender and now we should go straight back to "playing the kids"?

We should be playing the team which gives us the best chance to win the flag. And like it or not, with our current ruck stocks as they are, Blake should be in the team.

You are opinionated, yet you are probably way off the mark here. If Blake was delisted, he 'd be snapped up asap. What is with you? He had little to do with our loss, and didn't see Otto doing much more. Blakey had a GOOD year considering he gets 1/2 a game every week. He will soon be our no.1 and did youn actually see the game he beat Hille, who had his best season at an age way beyond Blakey. When Otto was out, Blake stepped up. Each year he gets better, and touch wood, he doesn't GET INJURED, unlike others. Let go of the anger and enjoy his progress. Remember his father took until 28/29 to become a star. He has a good pedigree, and imo, is the least of our problems.

We all have our favourites and those we don't like for one reason or another.

For mine, every time I watch Blake play, I am left scratching my head as to how he gets a game.

I really hope that over pre-season the slate is wiped clean and that Mumford is given an opportunity to make a proper play for the second ruck spot. I truly think he can offer a lot more than Flake.

well I never actually said he was shit to begin with so please do not put words in my mouth. I think he is a decent ruckman who is doing everything right as far as development goes.

At one stage people said his taps were useless and now is ranked in the top 3 for hit outs in 2008.

At one stage people said he can't kick......his kicking has improved remarkably over 2008 with some nice 30m passes and shots at goal. Still room to improve but considering how his kicking was in 2007 he has done well.

Blakey still has room to improve but when it is all said and done you can see that he is improving. That is a terrific output for a young ruckman.
