I would go for McGlynn as he has matured enough to set up plays, let alone grab it and handball it out.

Last night I saw a number of fumbles and poor disposal from Stokes that makes me think that heading in to a September campaign BMac is more impportant in tht small forward defensive pressure type role.

Stokesy was around it a bit last night, but I can't help feel that he is 2009-2010 regular senior.

Who would you put in going in to September (presuming BMac fully fit)??

Stokes is not ready for Senior games I would put in Tuck

Different roles BH.. THese two are the small guy forward line small guy defenders. Tucky is an in and under 6'2'' midfielder without enough pace up forward. Tucky reminds me more of a long term Brad Sewell type in the guts, same as Muston:thumbsu:

played well enough to stay in the team for nextweek[/quote]

No, actually think Stokes was not that great last night. Tuck in next week but Mcglynn is def. ahead of both of them IMO.:thumbsu:

Think with stokes in he frees up rioli more to do his thing, mglynn has bit of a temper, do we want do risk him getting suspended during a finals campaign or is it best to keep the current list together to gain some trust and confidance in each other coz they have been playing regular games together..

stokes was great last night. His disposal was spot on, just every time he disposed of the ball, the target would slip over, causing a turn over.

for what it is worth, you will find me saying after McGlynns first game he will be a regular in our side, and everyone knows i am stubborn and do not retract my words easily

Osborne...hopefully back next week in for stokes that would give us our stongest 22 all year.

guys dont forget about young we have been missing his run and booming left foot. may take thomas spot and ossy is wayahead of stokes and Benny

Stokes, we've missed his pressure on the ball carrier since he couldn't get back into the side. He also knows how to complete a tackle.

Depends who we're playing and who else is in our side.

McGlynn gives us more run. He's a handy guy to have around when we don't have the luxury of Clinton Young, Bateman or Crawford in the team.

Stokes is more of a crumbing, speedy one dimensional player. He was a fantastic option against Geelong. The PUSSIES struggle against small aggressive, pestering, hard-tackling forward lines - This is why Collingwood have been successful against them (Didak, Davis, Thomas, Medhurst & Co).

Hope so mate would be nice!:thumbsu: Might Mouse ahead of Stokes & Tuck! Stokes had a below par game in the first quarter the ball was like soap in his hands but that being said i think he gives us that tackling pressure up forward Tuck can Find the ball just needs to work on his disposal McGlynn reminds me of a smaller Brown i love the Hard Nuts mate & so does Clarko!:thumbsu:

absolutely adore them both
big fan
i would pick them both. but if i had to only pick one

i would pick mcglynn
only because he's proved himself over a longer period of time

it was not that. he actually had clean disposal, but his team mates were slipping over all over the place, which in turn, made his disposal look below par

I would take McGlynn over Stokes any day at this point in time. Was at the Collingwood game last night and saw him fumble 2 relatively simple marks, which could really be punished come September.

I still think Tuck has a long way to go before he becomes a regular in the team. Stokes is quick and can apply tackling pressure on the opposition, which holds him in really good stead and probably ahead of Tuck when the team is selected.

Good sign with Tuck is that he's a ball magnet. The guy gets heaps of the ball, has a knack of positioning himself in the right place. All he has to do is increase his disposal skills and poise on the ball and he'll be an absolute star.

Stokes, I don't think is up to Senior level, but still love watching him play his role.

I would rather McGlynn, more mature then Stokes.

It depends on what role he is expected to play and who is already in the team.

If we want a link man coming out of defence, and Clinton Young is injured, then pick McGlynn.

If we want a hard tackling forward with speed, pick Stokes.

If it is wet, pick McGlynn. If it's a sunny day game, pick Stokes.

As Stokes gets better, remembering he is a first year rookie, this question won't be asked.

Unfortunately for Benny, he is going to become more and more the forgotten man as the years roll by, similar to Boyle.

Benny is short of stature and without pace. Yes, The Extractor fits that description too, but unlike Sam Mitchell, Benny Mac isn't a great inside midfielder.

The truth is, there is a lot of competition for the role that Benny Mac can play at his best, but a fast forward with great tackling pressure comes at a premium.

since the topic was whether to play either mcglynn or stokes and not whoever else they'd rather put in, i'll stick to choosing one of the two.

a very easy and obvious answer is mcglynn. clearly he was one of our better small forwards last year, and i can't see that he's got any worse. the reality is, is that he's had an interupted season due to injury and suspension.

he's no certainty to being selected in next week because osborne has been terrific this year and deservedly should get the recall.

without doubt stokes has a good career ahead, but he's almost certain to be dropped this week.

and mcglynn will be in the snrs very soon.

Thats true to a point Noosa, however a player that gets his hands on the ball is a good thing too......lets not forget Hoopy lends himself to some silly turn-overs from time to time, but his attack on th eball is second to none and hence why Clarko loves him..........
